SC S25W4: Drawing Mecha Anime

Good day to everyone and I welcome you all to my blog today. I am here today before you all to once again participate in this contest titled "SC S25W4: Dibujando animé mecha." Organized by @jesusnunez and a very big thanks to you sir for this opportunity for showing our creativity through drawing. Now my entry below.

The world of mecha anime is a dazzling blend of imagination, technology, and artistry—and among its towering titans stands Gundam, a symbol of futuristic warfare and heroic resistance. Towering robots, futuristic warfare, and emotional storytelling all come alive within the frames of series like Mobile Suit Gundam. Inspired by this epic saga of machines and humanity, I picked up my pencil—not a digital pen, not a brush, just a simple pencil—and set out to recreate one of its iconic mobile suits. Below are the steps by step process.

Materials Needed

• pencil
• A4 paper
• ruler
• eraser
• sharpener
• black pen

step by step process

step 1

Starting with light sketch using my pencil, I shaped the overall form starting with the head. I took my time to get the shape of the head thought was hard but it's definitely worth it

Next I moved over to draw the hand, the hand which I carefully drawn to look like layered armor and mechanical structure.

Next I drew it's other hand including the blade it wielded and also the mechanical structure of it's body was drawn too.

After completing that part of the drawing process, I then went ahead to begin to draw it's legs, steady and slowly I gradually got the legs complete.

In this step , Without color, I had to rely on shading, contrast, and texture to give depth to the drawing. I used gentle strokes of my black pen to suggest metallic sheen and darker pressure to add shadow and intensity to my drawing.

After finally drawing it complete I wrote my username below and below is a selfie of i and my drawing, it was dark because I finished late and I had to take a selfie in the dark to show I drew it.

What I love about drawing from the mecha genre is how it blends cold machinery with human emotion. Finishing the piece was a proud moment. Looking at it, I saw more than graphite on paper. I saw determination, creativity, and a deep respect for a genre that has inspired fans for generations. With nothing but a pencil and passion, I brought a Gundam to life—at least on the page. And in doing so, I stepped into the world of mecha, not just as a viewer, but as an artist contributing to its legacy.
