Today, I’m going to participate in a sketching and drawing contest, and since the theme allows some creativity, I thought why not create something that reflects the current spiritual atmosphere?.

Right now, it's the season of Hajj, and we’ll be celebrating Eid-ul-Adha in our country. In Saudi Arabia, the Hajj has just taken place, and people from all over the world have gathered around the Holy Kaaba for this sacred pilgrimage. Despite the intense heat, the devotion and dedication of the people performing Hajj are truly admirable.

Seeing this, I felt inspired to participate in the contest with a sketch that reflects this special moment so I decided to draw the Holy Kaaba surrounded by worshippers.

To begin, I took a white paper and gathered my sketching tools pencil, eraser, sharpener, and ruler.

I needed some guidance to visualize my idea properly, so I searched on Google for “Kaaba drawing with pencil” and found a sketch that truly caught my eye.

I took a screenshot of it and began sketching. I started by drawing the basic structure of the Kaaba, carefully creating a box shape with straight lines to form the foundation. Then, I added two minarets one on each side to balance the image.

I paid close attention to the design details on the Kaaba’s cloth and the golden door, replicating them as accurately as I could.

To make the sketch more atmospheric, I lightly drew a couple of clouds in the sky to give a soft, heavenly feel. I also added some architectural surroundings on the left and right sides of the Kaaba to show the depth and the real setting

In the reference image I used, there were people around the Kaaba performing Tawaf, so I tried to capture that too. Using light pencil strokes, I sketched figures that appeared to be standing, walking, or moving in the background.

I didn’t add too many fine details to the people, but just enough to create the impression of a crowd, giving the scene a sense of life and movement.

Once the structure and figures were complete, I moved on to the shading. I started shading the Kaaba in a rich, dark black tone to bring out its bold appearance, which made it the central focus of the sketch. I continued shading the surrounding areas, the minarets, and the crowd lightly, keeping everything in balance.

The clouds were shaded softly to give a natural sky like appearance, and I added light shading to the background to give the entire drawing a calm, spiritual atmosphere.

Instead of highlighting each individual person, I used random lines and outlines to represent them collectively, maintaining the focus on the Kaaba.

When the sketch was finished, I was really happy with the result. It looked beautiful and meaningful, especially considering the time and occasion.

Creating this drawing during the days of Hajj and just before Eid-ul-Adha made it feel even more special to me. It wasn’t just a sketch it was something deeply connected to my heart and the spiritual moment we’re all experiencing right now.
