Gore Shahid Eidgha Maidan, Dinajpur
Gor-e- Shaheed Eidgah Maidan is an Eidgah Maidan located in Dinajpur, Bangladesh. It is said to be the largest Eidgah Maidan in Asia. In the Eid-ul-Fitr congregation held in 2022, 600,000 worshippers prayed here together. Eid prayers have been offered here since 1947, but there was no permanent minaret here. In 2015, a member of parliament of the then government planned and financed the construction of a permanent minaret here. The work on the minaret was completed in 2022.
This field in Dinajpur is a historical field for us and is a favorite place of all the people of Dinajpur. This place is located 0 km from Dinajpur.
Structural analysis, the Eidgah minaret has been built in the Mughal architectural style. There are a total of 52 domes, a large arch in the middle of the minaret and a height of 52 feet. There are two large minarets on both sides of the entire minaret, which are 60 feet high. There are 32 small arches in the shape of Merabs within the entire minaret.
Only the two Eid prayers of Muslims are offered here, at other times it is the responsibility of the District Magistrate's administration. Each dome has an electrical connection and beautiful lighting is arranged in the evening.
Here, a large arrangement has been made for the Muslims to perform ablution before the Eid prayers. It is located behind the minaret, i.e. in the western part. There is a drainage system on the side for draining the water. Since only two Eid prayers are offered here, there is no permanent toilet arrangement, but some temporary toilets are prepared before Eid. There are big trees around the field, and some more flower trees have been planted in the field to add shade and beauty.
The cost of this is not borne by donations or cooperation from the general public. Its entire cost is covered by government allocation. According to government information, ৳37.5 million BDT was spent on the construction of this Idgah Minaret. Compared to USD, the cost was $300,000 (assuming $1=125 BDT).
The area of this field is 22 acres. The entire field here is 62 acres. There is a food warehouse on the north side and a large field on the south side where there is a trade fair and a mosque for prayers. There is a children's park next to the field which is part of the land of this same field but they are used for different purposes.
This field is crowded with visitors in the afternoon, especially during holidays, many people bring their families here and enjoy the good times. There is a cricket ground at the very east of the field where games are played all year round. Currently, the administration has started the work of building a wall to prevent cars and cattle from entering the field so that the sanctity of the field is maintained.
There are various theories behind the naming of the Gor-e-Shaheed field. According to history, the British army gathered here during the Second World War. Again, according to the locals, Shah Amiruddin Ghuri (RA) died here after coming from Persia to spread Islam. The field is named after him. Another legend is that during the reign of Sultan Shamsuddin Ilyas Shah, a Sufi was martyred in a battle between 40 Sufis and a Hindu king, and he was buried here. In Persian, the grave is called 'Ghor', hence the name of the field is Gor-e-Shaheed Maidan.

Hello @miftahulrizky sir,
Thanks for your observation.
A part of the ground, east of the minaret, is approved for cricket. Since prayers are offered on this ground twice a year on Eid, prayers are not offered the rest of the time. This is not a mosque, if it were a mosque, prayers would have to be offered here every day. However, this is a holy place for Muslims. It is our responsibility to preserve a holy place, which the administration has now started working on. People are attracted to this historic field, which creates some problems. Because it is a large empty space right next to the city that attracts people.
Thank you for your reply.
