I hope you are all doing well in these harsh conditions. While the harsh weather conditions and sweltering heat are prevalent, life goes on with its own rhythm and vitality. Today was not just another day- it was International Mother’s Day. As a mother of a charming baby boy, this day is very very special to me! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers on earth. The morning was buzzing and I woke up early, with an idea that it would be a day of moments and true love.
Today, I had two events on the agenda around motherhood, community and connection. The first one was my community people, where women and children are there on a volunteer and working relationship. It was a big deal as we already had organized a special Mother's Day with women from the community. I had breakfast quickly and dressed myself, and went to the hall, with my heart filled with expectation.

When our chief guest came, we received her warmly, and snapped few pictures with her legit that were worth capturing. There were gorgeous Mother’s Day sashes everyone donned including our special guest. The community supervisor guided me to put on my own sashes, and I was proud, and glad to.

It was very sweet — poems, sentimental tributes to mothers. Though I was scorched by the burning heat, I could feel the fire of the women’s excitement and commitment deep inside me. They engaged sincerely, and we all felt deeply connected.

After the performances, we took lots of cool photos with all the entrants and some of the guys as well. The chief guest distributed small prizes to the participants bringing grateful smiles on their faces. I absolutely loved the entire program. After it ended, we took our seats in the conference room for our inaugural monthly community meeting. After I finished that, I came home, tired and happy.

And then, in that moment that melted me, my little baby boy turned to me and said, “Happy Mother’s Day, Mamma.” I broke down in tears. That little wish from him had made everything seem so worthwhile. After freshening up, having lunch and a nap, I prepared for the second of the day too.

In the afternoon, our ladies' community had planned another Mother's Day party, this time with kids. I was super excited because “I was thrilled, especially because my baby was going to be involved in this event. We went together to get ready and to the venue, and there were other little ones as well. My little had a blast running around and hanging out with his friends. I got to meet my friends and bhabis and chat with them.

This time, the children, and not the parents, took center stage. Although they each said something sweet about their mothers and I was bursting with pride and tears hearing their precious voices, laden with love. I got many pictures with all the beautiful mothers.

We appeared, once again, in the Mother’s Day sash, and the day was all the merrier. The kids had cake afterward, and then we just had some appetizers before we took off for home.

Reflecting back today was a beautiful reminder of all that there is to be grateful for, in the company of the people we love that, and to cap it all, togetherness. We carved out time amidst the weather and the busy schedules to celebrate motherhood with love, laughter and each other. It was a beautiful day indeed—one I’ll remember forever.
