Hola amigos, it is my pleasure to be part of this week's contest. Refugees are individuals who have left their country due to the political instability and the abdominal way the country is heading to live in other countries that have peace, to see if they can have a greater future elsewhere. I pray to god almighty to help the refugees overcome the situation they are in and better their lives in the future.

✅ What does "refugee" mean in your own words? Is this day celebrated in your country?

Refugees, in my understanding, are individuals who have been forced to leave their own country and seek safety in another country due to certain challenges like their beliefs, who they are, and also due to conflict or violence relating to public disorder.

I call refugees people who leave their country mainly because of political instability; when a country doesn't have a solid political foundation, it may cause discrimination between tribes and lead to severe conflict that can cause major to seek assistance for survival from other countries, particularly those close to them. Refugees are sometimes seen as people who lost their homes, especially due to sudden disorders in society, causing unbearable pain that eventually leads to them seeking safety from neighboring countries.

✅ Name a country that is known for hosting a large number of refugees. What is the current situation of them?

One of the countries that hosts the largest amount of refugees in the world is Iran. Iran is known to be one of the prominent countries that hosts a large number of refugees. Last year, in 2024, Iran hosted approximately 3.8 million refugees. Currently, Iran hosts refugees from Iraq and Afghanistan, with a large number of people living in the country's Cities and villages. Most of these individuals from Iran are always restricted, which causes difficulties for the government in discovering the needs of its citizens and enabling efficient support.

Iran is a country that currently faces challenges like a lack of infrastructure, healthcare, education, shelter as well as employment opportunities. Iran lacks good facilities to establish good schools that can Foster academic growth for Young ones and youth. The country also has a growing population of refugees due to their lack of adequate health care and supply of food; the food security of the country is really poor, amounting to the fact that they lack equipment to boost agriculture to ensure adequate food security.

Iran is also facing the challenge of inadequate health care facilities; in most villages and cities, hospitals that can help citizens have a good and smooth life are not present; those that are present usually lack the facilities to restore the individuals to a normal state of health. Once any country lacks these things, it will lead to citizens leaving their country for other countries for survival or greener pastures.

✅ How do you think children who are refugees might be affected by leaving their homes?

Children who are part of refugees face several challenges due to their young age and lack of knowledge to say no to certain things. They often face mental issues and trauma due to getting involved in violence, loss, and displacement, leading to issues like depression and anxiety. Also amounting to the fact that some of these kids can find it difficult to adapt to the kind of environment they find themselves in. When children get involved in violence, they also tend to practice it.

Children are also exposed to trafficking exploitation and hard levels, which can damage the brain, causing psychological issues. When children become refugees, they sometimes turn homeless, separating from their guardians and families, causing them to become vulnerable. Children who become refugees at a young age can have negative thoughts about life as humans.

Children who are refugees hardly receive adequate care because they are not citizens of the countries to which they have migrated. Kids who become refugees are also exposed to inadequate education, and indiscipline is part of immoral activities. Children tend to become school dropouts because of becoming refugees I also miss out on critical development mile schools because of the lack of social support and mental behavior. Sometimes, the kids will become refugees and often struggle to meet up with the method of teaching that has become new to them, causing them to lag in their academics.

Children can often face language barriers, especially in countries that make use of several languages. Imagine a little boy who can only speak Spanish, but out of his rough and tumbles, he finds himself in a country that only speaks English as their official language; it will be difficult for the boy to live in such an environment, causing him emotional distress and mental issues. Children are also exposed to taking responsibility into their own hands, like looking for minor jobs that can feed them daily, which can expose them to child abuse.

✅ If you could send a message of hope to a refugee. What would it say?

Refugees, to me, are classified as heartbroken individuals who need to be advised to see life as a place that poses hops and downs and also believe that their tomorrow shall surely be greater than they are today. I would also like to let all refugees believe that the future will be great and put their minds on bettering this situation they find themselves to find peace and comfort. As a refugee, you can face racism because of not belonging to the country you have sought refuge. I would also like to encourage refugees to recognize that God is their strength and also to remember that with him, everything is possible, praying to him and walking by his side daily, they can find comfort and peace and one day be free from the storms they are facing today. I encourage all refugees in Iran and Turkey to pick up courage and work together to build their country back, standing up for themselves because they have only themselves and God, they should also possess the Spirit of togetherness that can Foster growth and enable them to do exploits.
