History: In 1933, the Kolkata Shipyard built a 150-foot steam-powered ship for the British Governor of Bengal. The ship was named after Mary Anderson, the daughter of the then-Governor Sir John Anderson. Queen Elizabeth of England visited Bangladesh on this ship and later donated the ship to Bangladesh. Since then, the governors of East Bengal have used the ship. Since the country gained independence in 1971, the heads of state of Bangladesh have used the ship. On September 24, 1978, it was used as a floating restaurant and bar by the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.

The floating restaurant is located five kilometers from my house. The floating restaurant and bar are located on the banks of the Buriganga River in Pagla, a locality in the Narayanganj district. The floating restaurant and bar are open from 12:00 noon to 11:00 pm. However, the floating restaurant and bar are crowded with people from the evening onwards. The name of Mary Anderson Floating Restaurant and Bar is written on a big gate and banner on the side of the Dhaka to Narayanganj Highway.

After entering through the main gate, you will see a green procession on the banks of the Buriganga River. There is a ticket counter at the main gate. You have to pay an entrance fee to enter first. After walking along the riverbank, you will see a narrow road that leads to the ship over the river. There is a security guard at the entrance to the narrow bridge over the river. You have to show your identity and go to the ship.

I went to the Mary Anderson Floating Restaurant and Bar in the afternoon, and there were very few tourists. As evening approached, the number of tourists increased. There are trees planted on both sides of the narrow bridge over the river, which has increased its beauty. There are various types of flowers and trees planted. As I was going to the ship through the bridge, a security guard came and asked me for my identity. I introduced myself and entered the Mary Anderson Floating Restaurant and Bar. Since it is the monsoon season, the water flow in the Buriganga River is high.

The Mary Anderson ship has two floors. There are AC cabins on the second floor. There are accommodation arrangements for VIP and ministers from afar. In addition, the cabins on the second floor are rented on an hourly basis. There is a restaurant and bar on the roof of the ship. The decorations are of different designs. After I went to the roof of the ship, two restaurant employees came and gave me the food menu. I don't like the bar food, so I chose the food from the main menu.

I was surprised to see the prices on the menu because the food prices are very high. It is mainly rich people who come here to eat and have fun.
