Accusations of Witchcraft: A Coping Mechanism for the Financially Stressed

You This Witch!

Children calling their aged parents and relatives witches is commonplace where I live. This phenomenon caught my attention, so I paid more attention to it and found what I believe is the underlying truth behind the accusation.

In my initial observation, I noticed this trend was common among people who struggle financially. After caring for a child during their developing years, some parents have sacrificed their health to feed, clothe and shelter these young children. Some women have to pass through this all on their own after losing their husbands.
Now they are all grown up, and going by the hereditary and communicable nature of poverty, these young adults are rigged to fail financially, which often quickly materialises.
Drained out of all strength and vitality, these parents are now old and are becoming dependent. They can't work as labourers on a construction site anymore, too old to farm but not too old to eat and have a need for medication and a roof over their head.

This load of responsibility falls on these financially crippled ones, some are already struggling to feed a wife and 4 kids, others can't hold a job and may have no skills to support themselves. Their poor parents could only push them through basic education which could not teach them how to read.

With this wall of pressure crashing hard on this generation of adults, they seek answers in the many mushroom churches that see their parents as the reason for their failure. These youngsters go home and declare war against their dependent relatives, abandoning them, which cuts down their responsibilities, giving them some breathing space.

The little easing of the burden resulting from not caring for these vulnerable ones is interpreted as evident, deserving a testimony in church the next Sunday.

Have you ever asked why rich old men and women are never called witches? Why is the mother of their rich cousin not a witch but the poor parents of poor relatives are all witches?

Labelling poor and dependent relatives as witches and wizards is a coping mechanism for the Financially Stressed relatives who are trying to avoid responsibility. Most witches need financial deliverance from their dependent state, not prayers.

Conclusion and Invitation

If you don't want to be labelled as a witch by your children or relatives, start now to learn how money works, build and achieve financial independence and make sure your immediate relatives are able to care for their basic needs. Witches are dependent relatives, if such should work hard enough to change their financial status, that label gets changed.

I am now inviting @onyii03, @marvii and @emerson to have a say on this topic. Do you have financial witches in your community, have you noticed the role played by church prophets in creating these accusations?
