Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Tangail
Today I will discuss a key workplace in the administration of law in Bangladesh. This is the only judge's court or court in Tangail. Its name is Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Tangail. Its main building is a modern establishment within the District Judicial Complex. It is a symbol of order and dignity in the architecture of the city. The building is mainly built in a modern design with a rectangular and flat roof. The white and light cream exterior coating gives it a calm yet dignified appearance.
There are iron gates and paved pavements to enter the complex, which combine security and beauty. This multi-storey building is visible from afar. The wide staircase and large entrance hall express the grandeur of the building. This multi-storey building is visible from afar. The wide staircase and large entrance hall express the grandeur of the building.
Wide corridors have been kept on each floor so that judges, lawyers and the common people can move easily. Small green lawns and trees in front of the gate create an atmosphere of calm and justice throughout the area. The court's own new building was inaugurated in 2014. There are also huge water tanks on the roof.
- The main functions of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Tangail are as follows..
Case Reception and Trial | Accepting cases based on criminal charges or police reports, ordering investigation of cases, taking evidence and trying them, etc. |
---|---|
Judicial Power at the Main Level | Speeding up justice: Trial of minor serious crimes which are not in the Sessions Court or High Court. |
Taking Cognizance | Adding the matter to the judicial leadership regarding the case based on the police report or the formal complaint filed by the complainant. |
Punishment Provisions | As per the Penal Code, awarding the conventional punishment for the prescribed period in the case of simple or medium punishment. Such as fine, imprisonment for a few days, etc. |
Additional Responsibilities | Court-related administrative work such as Najiriyat, preservation of documents, ensuring transportation of justice, fixing the court schedule, surveillance, etc. |
I went with my elder brother because he is an advocate. I sat inside with him for a while and although I was not allowed to take pictures, I secretly took pictures. As soon as I entered, a spacious waiting hall caught my eye. Wooden benches and white walls have been used in each court room, which adds to the solemnity. The rooms of the judges, magistrates and staff are orderly and tidy, where the working environment is comfortable.
The iron half gate that you can see on the right is where the accused is kept standing. When there is a conversation between the advocate and the judges, the accused stands quietly in one place from the side and the police are next to him. There is a good arrangement for the witnesses and the general public to sit there.
Since it is a court, there are always police and lawyers inside. When legal proceedings are going on inside this court, taking pictures inside is completely prohibited. That is why I went outside the office hours and took pictures inside. There is a completely straight road for lawyers to move from where the general public sits.
An important court that plays a central role in ensuring justice to the general public. It is a multi-storey building, so there are lawyers' rooms on the other floors where they study cases. Also, the main building looks nice from the outside. Witnesses of all cases, plaintiffs, defendants, all clients are always moving outside.

Since this institution is a government institution, no kind of fraud or prohibited work can be done inside it. There is a CCTV camera in front of each room. It is very nice to see the view from top to bottom. The national flag of Bangladesh has been hoisted below.
In addition, there is a car parking facility on one side. There are posters on the walls of the building from time to time where it is written: Do not throw plastic anywhere, let's abandon polythene or plastic and build an environment-friendly country. In addition, there is a no smoking signboard where it is written: Smoking is prohibited in the court premises.

Although the largest court in Bangladesh is the Dhaka High Court. However, the main building of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Tangail is on the one hand a symbol of justice and on the other hand a perfect example of the architectural craftsmanship of the city. Its white-cream colored clean walls, wide corridors, green courtyard, large glass windows and night lighting. So, lawyers of different categories move here all the time, including my elder brother. I respect their legal work. So I present this institution to you.
