This tree is called in Bengali: Ratrani / Nishigandha / Nishithamalathi. Rajnigandha tree or Rajnigandha relative - A tree with a smell like Rajnigandha flower, whose scientific name is Cestrum nocturnum.

It is an evergreen shrub. It grows up to about 8-10 feet in height. The leaves are green and long. The flowers bloom and start to spread their fragrance after dusk, especially at night. This tree spreads a great fragrance.

The flowers are small, white or light green, tube-shaped. There is no smell during the day, but a wonderful fragrance is released after dusk. The flowers are arranged in clusters, at the ends of the branches. The fragrance of the flowers is so strong that it can be smelled from a distance of 20-30 feet. This fragrance spreads in the air and creates a kind of intoxicating atmosphere. By spreading the fragrance at night, it attracts insects and pollination occurs naturally. Bees, butterflies, etc. are attracted.

Loam and sandy loam soil are most suitable. Regular watering is required, but waterlogging is not advisable. Direct sunlight is required, but shade is also good. Pruning 1-2 times a year makes the tree bushier and blooms more flowers. Organic fertilizer or compost gives good results. In addition, liquid fertilizer can be applied. If planted near the main gate or window of the house, the fragrance of the night spreads throughout the house. If you want to cultivate in a tub, you need to use a large tub (more than 18 inches). It is better to support it with iron or bamboo poles, because it can become bushy.
