How are you all? I hope that by the grace of Almighty Allah, you are all well. Alhamdulillah, I am also very well. Today I have come to participate in the ongoing SFB Atlas #13 ; Pin Your Recent Place. competition in the Steem For Bangladesh community. At the beginning of the competition, I would like to thank @solaymann very much for giving us such a beautiful competition. So let's get started,,
The name of this river is Gopgram river, the river flows through Kumarkhali Upazila and Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia district, it is a tributary and its main source is the Padma River, which is the largest river in Bangladesh.
Since it is a small tributary, it remains dry for a long time of the year. The river has water from mid-July to mid-October. During the rest of the time, the farmers of the area cultivate on the dry riverbed. Paddy, mustard and jute are cultivated once a year in this river.
After a long time, I went to my village home from Dhaka for a special reason. Every year during the rainy season, I used to spend most of my time in the river at my village home, washing jute in the river water, or taking a boat ride in the river with the boys of the neighborhood for most of the day. However, this year, due to being in Dhaka, I miss those opportunities a lot, so after finishing my village work yesterday, after consulting with a boy from our neighborhood, I set out in the afternoon with their boat for the river.
Due to the heavy rainfall in the last few days and the increase in the river water, the water in the small canal in our area had also become quite clear. The dirty leaves of the weed trees that grew in the dry season inside the canal were also washed away by the rain water and looked like brand new leaves. And since the water in the canal was clear, they were reflected in the shade of the trees like a mirror.
After some boating, we came to the bridge connecting our area to the neighboring village. This bridge was built by the British about 200 years ago. There is no renovation work on the bridge due to which the bridge is slowly collapsing, especially from the lower part of the bridge, the sand and cement castings have started to fall off, so everyone is a little afraid to cross under the bridge.
The canal through which we were going towards the river is a very narrow canal, but after crossing the bridge, we saw that most of the canal was quite wide, and besides, this place was surrounded by many old leaning and crooked trees and vines on both sides, so the place looked quite beautiful.
After going a little further, we continued to pass under a bamboo grove. Many trees had fallen from the branches of this bamboo grove into the water of the canal, and since the path through their branches was almost blocked, the people of the area had cut off the tops of the trees for ease of movement.
After passing the bamboo garden, we came across the bridge on the way out of the canal and entered the river a little further away. This bridge connected the branch river and the canal of our neighborhood. Then we entered the river under the Bamra bridge.
After entering the river, we saw a flock of geese, which were swimming in the new clear water of the river. And occasionally they were wading in the shallows of the river and collecting their food from the bottom of the river.
The moss that grows in the water is engaged in dividing the river from the middle to the banks. Due to this moss, the waves of the river hit the river banks a little less. Although there are no waves in this river as it is a tributary, sometimes when there is heavy rain and the river is full of water, it creates quite terrible floods in this river.
Then we crossed the moss and went to the middle of the river. It was quite wonderful to see the clear water in the middle of the river and the view of the two banks on both sides, but what attracted me the most was the reflection of the sun on the clear water in the light current of the river.
The boy I went to on the boat, he made his own fishing nets and traps to catch fish, so he caught fish from several traps he had on the other side of the river and took them to the other side of the river and submerged the traps in the water.
After setting up his trap, we started back again, on the way back we saw a few fields of dhaincha (a type of plant that looks like jute). Although it was quite beautiful to see these fields in the shallow clear water, it was painful to think that the farmer who owned the field had lost a lot of money because of the water entering the field.
It was getting dark, so we quickly started back home. After reaching the Maj river, we saw a farmer who was cleaning his jute sack (a sack made by soaking raw jute in water to make ash from jute) so that he could start washing the jute early in the morning.
Then we quickly started coming towards the river bank. It was quite dark in the canal by then, and since the canal was narrow and there were dense trees on the banks, we tied the boat to a tree on the river bank with a long rope and started walking towards home, and thus ended my Gopgram river cruise yesterday.
