A few days ago I went to a tourist place (Panam City) located on the outskirts of our city. It is located in a place called Narayanganj. Although it is located about 10 kilometers from our city, I went there by car. The road there is very good and I think it is easy to go there from any place in the city or town. It does not require much money to go there from the city, but it took us only 250 taka, which is 15 steems at the steem price.

Painting crafts on the walls of buildings.

This Panam City is a traditional ancient city of Bengal. There are old buildings here that are 400 years old. Since the East India Company was here, many big businessmen lived here. There are 52 buildings in Panam city, almost in two rows.

1000008401.jpg

1000008403.jpg

The buildings lined up on two sides.

There are 31 houses in the north and 21 in the south. The houses are rectangular and each house is one to three stories high. Each one was decorated with craftsmanship and cast-iron brackets, ventilators, and window grills were used along with bricks.

Ponds for waterlogging and wells in every house.

The city of Panam has a perfect plan, there are canals and ponds on both sides for the water supply of the city. Every house has a well, and to keep the city residents free from waterlogging, a slope has been made towards the canal.

Temples, churches, monasteries, baths, dance halls.

In addition to residential buildings, there are mosques, temples, churches, monasteries, baths, dance halls, taverns, and art galleries inside the city.

1000008578.jpg

1000008583.jpg

The buildings are old, with only bricks left

However, although these houses are quite old, they are still standing on the ground, some buildings have been newly renovated and painted to bring out their former beauty. Again, due to the destruction of some buildings, there is nothing in the house except brick buildings and it looks like a very terrible house

1000008459.jpg

1000008460.jpg

The buildings are very beautiful, with 2 and 3 floors.

The frames and railings of many houses have come off, as a result, the roofs of the houses are collapsing, the stairs and walls are collapsing. However, the surprising thing is that Panam is one of the 100 ruined historical cities in the world.

Ticket counter in front of the gate.

The entrance fee here is only 30 taka, but the ticket price is 300 taka for those who come here from many countries. This tourist attraction is closed on Sundays. It is open from 09.00 am to 05.00 pm. There is a little history of Panam City written in front of the ticket center, which is given in the picture.

Photo with a Swedish citizen

I took a picture with a Swedish citizen who came from abroad there. It gave me a lot of joy and it was the first time I had seen such an old house, so it was very interesting for me.

1000008464.jpg

1000008462.jpg

The old building is visible from the outside and has beautiful designs on the walls.

It was not difficult to travel because of the trees inside, but seeing such old buildings and seeing what is ahead has awakened my desire every moment. There are only buildings there, there is nothing much inside. I was looking at some pictures of the buildings and the pictures of the crafts on the walls, which are quite beautiful.

One of the beautiful moments.

It is impossible to understand its beauty without seeing it. The lost traditional buildings of our country are now one of the tourist attractions of our country, Panama City.

Why was the area abandoned?

@pennsif Sir,
After Sonarga became the capital of Bengal in the Middle Ages, the British took control of Bengal and the Muslims here took steps to reduce the influence of the residents here as they did not get along with the British. At that time, the upper-caste Hindus who cooperated with the British lived there. As a result, the position of Hindu traders gradually developed. At the same time, those who did not cooperate with the British in business were forced to leave this area. As a result, various areas of Panam Nagar were destroyed. Currently, the houses on both sides of Panam Nagar Road were built with the help of the British and were built by Hindu upper-caste traders. After the British left, everything of these traders decreased, so the buildings gradually started to be abandoned.

@pennsif Thank you So much Sir ❤️
