After of Qurban: Cultivating Sincerity, Obedience and Piety
This year's Eid al-Adha holiday, also known as the Sacrifice holiday, has left Muslims behind. A day full of meaning for Muslims all over the world without exception. The sacrificial service that is carried out during Eid al-Adha must bring out sincerity, obedience and piety in every congregation. The command to carry out the sacrifice itself is contained in Surah Al-Kautsar verses 1-2. Which means "Indeed, We have given you many blessings. So pray for your Lord and make sacrifices". This verse is the spiritual basis for sacrificial worship and reminds Muslims of the great blessings that Allah SWT gave to the Prophet Muhammad SAW, both in this world and the afterlife.
These blessings must be tied to obedience through sincere prayer and sincere sacrifice. Prayer is a vertical worship between a servant and the creator, Allah SWT. Meanwhile, sacrifice is a horizontal act of worship that reflects our concern for others. The flesh and blood of the sacrificial animal does not reach Allah, but it is the piety of the sacrificer that is accepted by Allah SWT. Eid al-Adha is a feast day for Muslims, as the Prophet Muhammad SAW replaced the tradition of ignorance in the city of Medina with two holidays, namely Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Therefore, if there are people who are sad on Eid al-Adha, then we are highly recommended to make them happy.
It is very important for people who are able to share qurban meat with those in need, even to strangers. Sincerity in sharing is the essence of qurban worship, not just showing off the number of animals sacrificed or expecting praise from others. Sincerity is the main key in carrying out qurban worship. Sincerity is like a garment of piety that we must always wear, not only during qurban, but in every aspect of life. The value of social concern is also an important point in qurban worship.
Qurban worship teaches us to sacrifice our egos for the common good. Don't just think about yourself, but care about your neighbors and society. For every servant who is able, qurban is a form of obedience that should not be ignored. "Whoever has ample sustenance but does not make qurban, let him not approach our place of prayer", said the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Qurban worship is a spiritual practice to reduce attachment to the world and strengthen the relationship with Allah SWT. The sacrificial service is not the end, but rather the beginning of a spiritual journey to continue maintaining sincerity, obedience and social awareness in everyday life.
