Stay the course with me as I go to volunteer for a prison outreach. My friend and sister was having her NGO's Prison Outreach and I went to lend my support and tell those who are in prison that as much as they are locked behind bars, there is still hope.
The outreach was scheduled for 12 noon but the rains came as early as 6am and have been at it since then. This made me somewhat scared as those volunteering wouldn't want to come out under the heavy rains, but still I got ready. By some minutes past 11am, the rain has reduced to drizzles and a heavy cold weather. This meant I couldn't wear what I had chosen before so I changed into a different outfit and off I went.

I stoped at a phone accessory store to get a new charger for my phone as the old one had been misplaced. There I saw beautiful kiddies wears that I took pictures of to show my friends that had kids.

Welcome to the Nigerian Correctional Service in Owerri Imo State. As we were told we didn't have so much time left, we spoke to the officers on duty as an appointment had already been made before hand.

The founder of ETRO and the items we came with

We weren't allowed to go in with our phones as that was their formal process. We were asked to speak to the women as the men were currently in a soccer match, and there was no light to power their amplifier as the guys we saw there were many. We spoke to the women there...there were women of different ages, elderly, young, middle aged women and so on. We spoke to them on God's love and hope telling them that God hasn't forgotten them and that this situation would turn to their testimony someday. They were happy seeing us and received us warmly and listened attentively as we spoke.
One thing I noticed was that their facility and it's environment was clean, and the inmates all looked well cared for. While there, I realized that life deals different cards to different folks, it was a thought provoking visit.

Once we were out of their yard, we were allowed to take a couple pictures. Here we were trying to shake off the feeling we all had encountering the inmates, once we were done with our pictures, we left
