Not All Gold Comes With a Paycheck
Sammy was offered job from two different individuals.
The first was the CEO of a multinational oil company. He offered him a job as a manager with good salary , job stability, a company car and a good working condition.
The other offer was from his late uncle. Not in words, but in legacy. He left behind a small and uncertain fish farm in the village with fingerlings to take over. There was no glamour, no stable income, just a dream that is almost dead.
As expected, everyone advised him to take the oil company job. Even Sammy doubted his abilities in managing and reviving the fish farms back to live because the oil job was safer and it was the type people brag about to friends and loved ones.
But deep down, there was this weird voice telling him to take the other road (fish farm)… it may look ugly now but it’s yours and you don’t have to answer to anybody.
So he did the unthinkable and turned down the oil job and moved from the city to his village.
The early days was difficult because he had to do everything on his own and as well source for customers, since he didn’t have money to pay workers. Some days, he stay without eating. His friends mocked him and stopped picking his call because he was always asking for their assistance.
But he kept learning on the job and kept showing up. He had faith.
Guess what?? Two years later, the business started flourishing. That muddy fish farm was now supplying 20 restaurants and also an employer of labor in the community. He’s building a brand. Telling his story. Living his freedom without answering to anyone.
Sammy didn’t take the easy road, he chose the road not taken and it made all the difference in his life.
Well, this short story was inspired by a book I just started reading “Rich dad, poor dad” by Robert kiyosaki.
In the book, he reference a poem “The road not taken” by Robert frost which talks about the “choices” we make in life.
There are moments in everyone’s lives where we are faced with two paths.
One familiar, one scary..
And within a few seconds, a million and one thoughts will flood your mind asking questions like:
- what if I fail ?
- What if it doesn’t work out as planned?
- What will people say?
This is why people take the safe and traditional path of getting a good paying oil job that comes with its benefits since is less risky.
But real financial freedom comes with choosing the less traveled path because that’s where leaders are born. That path holds growth, boldness and a story worth sharing to people
So ask yourself:
Will I keep doing what’s safe… or will I finally do what calls me?
My best advice:
Don’t wait for the perfect moment, you will wait forever. Just cease the moment and make it perfect by taking the road not taken.
The story you're telling me tells me that we must listen to that inner voice we humans have, some call it intuition.
The protagonist had to make decisions based on that voice, without being able to be sure of the future.
Friend, I think the idea of writing stories based on reading that book will be very beneficial to you. I hope to continue reading.

Since when I was in secondary school, I’ve been hearing about the book “rich dad, poor dad”. A lot of people have given positive reviews about the book and just recently, I stumbled upon it.
Although, I’m yet to complete it but I’m glad I’m reading it.
