When last did you say hello to your friend?

Greetings to all members for lifestyle from me, @destinedhanik to you all. I wanna appreciate @okere-blessing for this contest on friendship. A beautiful friend is more than a family member. It is said that true friends are never apart, maybe in distance but never in heart. Though it's been few weeks I heard from my friend but I want to use this opportunity to talk about this beautiful friendship.

I have few friends maybe because I'm an introvert but amongst these friends, one stands out.

A friend is someone who is there by your side through thick and thin, who listens to you, advices you and doesn't walk away in the midst of storm. A true friend holds your hands in the midst of storm and assures you that everything will be fine. The name of my friend who does all these is peace. I met her coincidentally through my church member who was her cousin abd since then, we have been together over the years.

I chosed her as my friend because

• She is caring

• She is always giving me a listening ear. Over the years, we seem to go through trials together and advice each other.

• She is a giver and she spends time with me despite her busy schedule.

• She is very industrious, she is never lazy.

My friend, peace

When I do not hear from my friend, I try my best to reach out cos not hearing from her makes me anxious, I feel as if I'm not hearing from my sister. I always like to find out how she is doing and how life is treating her. Distance is never a barrier where our friendship is concerned. We also have another friend who is our mutual friend, so sometimes I reach out to that one to find out about my friend when I don't hear from her.

There are qualities I look out for before calling someone my friend. They are:

• Compatibility. I chose someone I'm compatible with, someone who I'm not tired of being with when we are together neither am I bored.

• Trustworthiness. This is very important. I prefer someone who doesn't talk too much or is a rumour monger, but someone I can confide in and keeps my secret to herself.

• Someone who is selfless, who isn't in the friendship because of what she gets but is always patient with me and gives a listening ear.

• Someone who is ready to make sacrifice in the friendship and who is interested in a long term friendship, not one who is only there through good times.

• Someone who tells me the bitter truth about myself but who doesn't judge me.

I just wanna appreciate my friend with these words.

Few years ago, you came into my life, I didn't know that it would be the beginning of sisterhood. Despite time and distance, out friendship has gotten stronger. You have been there for me, time wise and financially. You are never tired of listening to me or giving me your time. Your advice is always on point and you have never told me you don't have time for me, rather you would spend your last money to see me and even make me feed. I hear you do much abd despite the distance, I hope our friendship lasts till we have white hairs all over. God bless abd keep you, dearest friend turned sister. I heart you.
