My Landlord And I
Hello Everyone.
This is @missyleo

It's a pleasure to participate in this amazing contest topic My landlord and I, organized by our dear admin @okere-blessing. Thank you so much ma'am for this opportunity. Without much ado, let's go straight to the hint questions.
A landlord is a person who owns a house and also put it up for rent in exchange money, he operates it as a personal business. A landlord might be a young man, single without a wife or any kids or a an elderly man with a wife and children.
As a tenant that I am presently, I've lived in so many rented houses and I've experienced a good and a bad landlord in this my few years on earth, but in all the experiences I've had, I give thanks to God because I still came out strong and not broken.
Presently where I am living now, this is my five years staying in this compound. And this is the only compound that I happens to live where there's no landlord staying... The house is a favourable place to me for now due to the affordable price that I was paying the first two years I started living there not until the daughter came and increased the house rent with the reason of upgrading some things in the house but failed to do so. Though she later gave her reasons for not being able to meet up with the promise she made, I didn't have a choice than to be patient with her as she promised to fix the thing in my next rent payment.
Nevertheless I still find my place favourable for now due to me how peaceful the house is, no harassment of any kind and there's no stealing or problem from the landlord, maybe that's because he doesn't stay in the compound with us. Personal I would have loved for my landlord to stay in the house inorder for him to control some nonchalant attitude from fellow tenants.
Some tenants are too troublesome that even when you call them to order, they will shout at you, asking if you're their landlord, that you have no right to caution on anything.
Personally I've had several experiences in both cases, but with the experience I'm having right now with my present house I'm staying, I will say it's wise to stay in a compound the landlord stay, my reason is, my presence landlord is a very kind and understanding man, he's an elderly man of 90 years and above. This man stays in another state yet he still call to check on us the tenant asking about our welfare on a regular basis.
Is not as if I have ever had any bad landlords ever since I started renting an apartment, they are always good but the issue is their children will always make things difficult for the us the tenant. They will always generate means of extorting money from us by saying money for sanitation, money for security and so on, why because, they don't have access to the House since we normally pay directly to the father.
The tenant have every right to sue any landlord that doesn't live up to his expectations. Like what is happening in the place I'm living right now, my room is not tiled , so I'm using carpet on the floor, that wasn't a problem to me because of how affordable the rent was when I rented from my landlord, after two years the man handover the room to his daughter so she now became the owner of the house and I will automatically be paying rent to her.
The first year I was to pay rent, she increased the price of the house, I didn't have issues with that but before I paid the rent I complained about my licking roof and some crack on my wall, she promised to fix it immediately I pay the rent , but to my surprised she didn't fix anything in the house.
I called her continuously on that issue but she kept giving me false hope, not till I gave up on the issue. Tell me if situation like this doesn't warrant arrest or sueing the landlord, but I didn't do so because I am a very peaceful person.

You're lucky to live where a landlord will call to ask of your well-being, some only call to find out when you'll pay for the rent. You've written so well about the importance of having a live-in landlord.
Best wishes to you dear friend!
Thanks for stopping by... Yes I'm always lucky to live in a compound where landlords call to check on me often.
