Today I want to share with you about the Upazila Indoor Badminton Court in our town. It’s a truly special facility because it is the only indoor badminton court here. That’s why it holds great value for us. Let’s take a closer look at this place.

Location
The Upazila Indoor Badminton Court is located in a very important government area of our town. It stands right in the Upazila complex, surrounded by major government offices such as the UNO Office, the Upazila Social Services Office, and the Election Commission Office. Interestingly, this badminton court is situated between the Prabatipur Upazila Model Mosque and the residence of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), making it a central and easily accessible spot.

Brief History
The bright and modern badminton court that we see today was once just an outdoor court. At that time, officers and locals could only play badminton during the winter season, as rain or bad weather made it impossible to play. In 2024, a dream came true for badminton lovers. The old outdoor court was rebuilt into a fully indoor badminton court, allowing people to enjoy the game throughout the year. The facility was officially inaugurated on March 7, 2024, marking a new chapter for sports in our town.

Founder
Behind the planning and implementation of the Upazila Indoor Badminton Court was the initiative of Mr. Bipul Kumar, a former Upazila Executive Officer (UNO). I believe he played a major role in making this court a reality.
Although the project was funded by the government, conceiving and implementing such an idea is never easy. Building an indoor facility takes months of planning, approval, and execution before it finally comes into existence.
Later, our area’s Member of Parliament, Chairman, Deputy Commissioner, and the new Upazila Nirbahi Officer officially inaugurated the court. However, it is important to give special recognition to Mr. Bipul Kumar, because he was the one who initially planned and took steps toward the implementation of this project.
Interestingly, only a few days after the inauguration, Mr. Bipul Kumar was transferred from this post and became a former UNO, and another officer replaced him. But his contribution behind this indoor court will always be remembered with respect.
Communication Medium
Currently, this indoor badminton court does not have any official Facebook page or social media handles. If someone wants to play here, they must either:
Work in the Upazila offices,
Be an Upazila officer,
Hold any other government job,
Be a family member (such as son) of an Upazila official, or
Be a close acquaintance of an officer in the Upazila offices.
If none of these apply, but you are a talented player, you will need to directly communicate with the Upazila officers who play here and manage the facility.

Activities
This indoor court is primarily dedicated to badminton, which is why the word “badminton” has been added to its title. The main activity here is, of course, playing badminton. Almost every evening, except during Eid or when other government events take place in the Upazila area officers and selected players gather to enjoy badminton matches.
Besides the regular games, the officers sometimes organize friendly tournaments among themselves. These events often include prizes or even refreshments, making the atmosphere lively and enjoyable. Occasionally, the government also arranges official badminton tournaments here, adding a more competitive spirit to the place.
Interestingly, the court also has a table tennis setup. However, since most players are more interested in badminton, the table tennis equipment is currently kept safely in storage and not in use for now.
Seating Arrangements & Cleanliness

The indoor badminton court has well-planned and comfortable seating on both sides of the court. On one side, there are more seats reserved for the officers, while on the opposite side, seating is arranged for other players and spectators. This makes the environment more organized and ensures everyone has a proper place to sit and enjoy the matches.

When it comes to cleanliness, the court is kept in excellent condition. A dedicated staff member has been appointed to look after the facility. He works hard to keep the floor shining, the surroundings tidy, and the overall environment fresh and pleasant for the players and visitors.

Environment of the Court
The Upazila Indoor Badminton Court offers a pleasant and refreshing environment. Surrounding the court are several mango trees, which not only add natural beauty but also help keep the area cool. Inside, there are windows that allow air circulation, making the atmosphere more comfortable for players and visitors.

The electric facilities are well-maintained. Since playing badminton in the summer is quite exhausting, arrangements have been made to ensure comfort. There are two ceiling fans installed near the officers’ gallery and, more recently, a large stand fan has been added so players can cool down after an intense match.

The lighting system is also excellent. Multiple bright lights have been installed, making it possible to enjoy matches at night with ease.
Entry Fee
![]() |
---|
There is no entry fee for playing badminton in this indoor court. All the necessary costs, such as badminton shuttlecocks (feathers) and other basic setups, are covered by the Upazila officers. Players only need to bring their own badminton racket and proper outfit to join the game.

Opening and Closing Time
![]() |
---|
The indoor badminton court remains closed during the daytime and opens in the evening, usually between 8:00 – 9:00 PM. Since the Upazila officers are busy with their official duties throughout the day, they become free in the evening to enjoy the game. Playing badminton at night not only fits their schedule but also makes the experience more enjoyable. The court generally closes late at night, between 11:00 PM and 12:00 AM, depending on when the matches finish.
Officer’s Club

On the opposite side of the indoor court, there is an Officer’s Club. This club has seating and some entertainment facilities for the officials. The boy who has been appointed to look after the court also manages part of this club.

He is responsible for keeping badminton equipment and other necessary items in their proper place. He even makes tea for the players and officers. I have enjoyed the taste of this tea many times before playing badminton here, it’s simple but refreshing

There is also a common washroom inside the club, which the badminton players can use. In many ways, this club adds extra convenience and support for the people who come to play in the indoor badminton court.
My Honest Review
This indoor badminton court is truly an extraordinary facility in our town. It was the first indoor facility built here, and though access is a bit restricted for everyone, I personally feel lucky and happy to play here. The environment of this place is simply awesome.
The court is situated in a location that feels both secure and pleasant. Everyone who plays here is well-educated and polite, and you can even learn something from them when you team up, sit, and talk with them. Moreover, the officers take care of the costs for badminton equipment and other setups, which is a huge blessing since playing badminton can be expensive.
The lighting, seating arrangements, and washrooms, all the necessary facilities are available, making this indoor court a wonderful place to enjoy badminton.
