The Purest Oil: How I Extract Mustard Oil from Seeds Naturally

I hope everyone is well and enjoying their lives. Today's post is about my mustard oil-making process, how we extract mustard oil from mustard seeds, which we use for cooking, applying to the head, or for preparing any product.
We have two types of mustard, one we use for food, and the other is the one we use to prepare different products. If we put it in simple words, one is black mustard and the other is yellow mustard.
The yellow mustard we use is also called canola mustard because we use it for cooking. We can prepare any kind of curry. If you want to cook anything or fry something, you can use it. Even pakoras and samosas are prepared in it.
We have yellow mustard because we had to use it for our food, so you also have to buy this mustard. After buying, you have to dry it well in the sun because it is wet. When it is wet, less oil comes out of it. When it is very dry, more oil comes out of it. For that, you have to put it in the sun for about three to four hours so that it gets good sun and it dries.

We had dried it well in the sun, now I brought it to a nearby mill because there is machinery there that extracts the oil from it, so the first thing we have to do is put the mustard in this machine.
When we put this mustard in the machine, we add a little water at the same time. With water, it is ground well inside because it is granular and slippery, due to which it is not ground much. When we add water, it is slightly wet. It gets sticky when it is wet.


This machine has three parts. In the first part, we have to add mustard, mix it with a little water, and in the second part, it is ground lightly and sent down. Then in the third step, it starts falling out. When it falls out, it is then put in a container and collected again.
This is such a task that we cannot extract the oil from it in one go. We have to put it in this machine again and again and grind it again. Then the oil comes out of it. The first two times, it is empty. We have to put it in it. That machine grinds it, and it goes down. Yes, after it comes down, it is collected again. After collecting it, it is put back into the machine from above so that it can be ground again.


After pouring it like this about three times, oil starts coming out of it. The last one, where the option is, starts coming out of it, and we have placed some kind of container under it in which our oil collects.
A special type of container is placed under it, which is open at the top, so that when the oil falls from above, it does not fall outwards. Therefore, an open-mouthed button is placed under it to preserve your oil.


I had also taken a pot of my own, which was filled to the top. Then they used one of their pots, which had an open mouth. Then I poured whatever oil had accumulated in it into another pot of mine, which had a slightly narrow mouth. This way, it was easy to pour oil into it. By the way, if they had kept it at the bottom, there was a hope that the oil would have fallen and been wasted.

The sign of this is that the waste that is inside it becomes hard at the end. When it becomes hard, this means that the oil inside it has completely run out. The waste that is inside it becomes completely dry and starts to come out in a hard shape. Until its shape becomes soft, we keep putting it back into the machine so that more oil can be extracted from it. But when it becomes hard, we do not put it back in because the oil inside it has completely run out.

As you have seen the final shape, such a shape that when your machine starts extracting the waste, you should understand that the oil you have has been completely extracted. We had 40 kg of mustard, and out of 40 kg of heads, about 16 kg of oil has been extracted.


We cannot use this oil just like that because it does not give a better taste. For its best taste, we have to heat it. First, we will keep it like this for two to three days because when it is lying around, all the dirt inside it will settle down, and we will separate the oil from the top. Then, when the oil is separated, we will cook this oil over a fire and heat it. In this way, any bacteria or germs that are present will and our oil will become clean and transparent, and we can use it for food.
An easy way to use homemade oil is to buy mustard seeds and extract the oil yourself. You will know that this thing is pure, and you will not have any doubts. This is a delicious thing. You must use it at home. This way, you stay away from chemical-laden oils.
