Rainy season

Saturdays are often seen as free days, a time to catch up on chores, run errands, or go out to socialize. But not every Saturday turns out that way. Yesterday was one such day—it was a Saturday that reminded me of the beauty of slowing down, the comfort of staying indoors, and the joy of simply being with myself.

🌧️ Morning Rain

From the moment I opened my eyes, I could hear the sound of rain. Not the light drizzle that comes and goes, but steady rainfall that poured with no sign of stopping. The sound was rhythmic, almost like music, and it set the mood for the entire day.

I lay in bed for a while, just listening. There is something about the sound of rain that calms the soul. It felt like nature telling me to rest, to pause, to let go of the usual rush. Normally, Saturdays are my busiest days—I wash my clothes, clean the house thoroughly, maybe even cook something special. But as I stared outside, the rain made it clear: today would be different.

☔ No Chores, No Rush

Rainy days make outdoor chores impossible, and even indoor ones feel slower. I had planned to do my laundry, but there was no sun to dry clothes, so I decided to leave it for another day. Cooking also didn’t feel necessary; maybe it was the weather or maybe it was just my mood, but I didn’t have the energy to go into the kitchen.

Instead of rushing into tasks, I embraced the laziness that the rain brought. I stayed in my room, curled up with my phone, and allowed myself the rare luxury of doing absolutely nothing.

🎥 Movies All Day

My phone became my closest companion for the day. I scrolled, I chatted a little, but most of all, I watched movies. There is something about movies on a rainy day that feels extra cozy. The sound of raindrops outside mixed with the voices from the screen, creating a cocoon of comfort around me.

Each movie took me into a different world. For a few hours, I forgot about the grey sky and heavy clouds. Instead, I laughed at comedies, felt touched by dramas, and got lost in stories that carried me far from my little room.

By the time one movie ended, I would start another, and just like that, the hours rolled by.

🍴 Simple Meals
Because I didn’t cook, I kept my meals very simple. I snacked on light things I already had at home—biscuits, bread,

maybe a drink here and there. It wasn’t a feast, but it was enough. Rainy days often take away my appetite anyway, so I didn’t feel hungry.

It was actually refreshing to spend a day without the pressure of cooking or washing dishes afterward. Sometimes, the body and mind just need a break.

evening Reflection

By evening, the rain was still falling. The sky had remained grey the whole day, and the streets were wet and quiet. I thought about how unusual it was that I hadn’t stepped outside even once since morning. Normally, I would have at least gone out to buy something or greet a neighbor, but the rain kept me in, and honestly, I didn’t mind.

There was a sense of peace in that stillness. It reminded me that not every day has to be productive in the usual sense. Rest itself is productive. Taking a day to recharge, to enjoy simple pleasures like movies and snacks, is just as important as ticking tasks off a list.

🌟 Lessons from the Rain
As I prepared to sleep, I realized that the day had taught me something. Life often pushes us to always be on the move working, cooking, cleaning, going out. But days like this rainy Saturday remind me that slowing down is necessary. Rain forces us indoors, but maybe it also forces us into ourselves, into reflection, into rest.

I also felt grateful. Grateful that I had a roof over my head to keep me dry, grateful that I had food to eat without needing to go out, and grateful that I had my phone to keep me entertained. What could have been a boring, frustrating day turned into one of quiet joy.

🌼 Closing Thoughts

So, that was my Saturday: a day where the rain took control, where chores were postponed, where cooking was skipped, and where my phone became my window to entertainment. It wasn’t a busy day, but it was fulfilling in its own way.

Sometimes the best days are not the ones filled with noise and activity, but the ones where you stay indoors, listen to the rain, and let life slow down for a while.

Yesterday was exactly that a rainy Saturday that gifted me rest, peace, and a reminder to embrace the quiet moments.
