"My Activeness on Social Media"

Today, I am happy to participate in the Contest of "My Activeness On Social Media" created by @abdullahw2. We live in the age of digital social media, a medium that has become intrinsic to our way of life and being: the way we socialise, share and communicate. For this post, I want to share my own stories, habits, and routines with social media – how much is perhaps a too a much for me, my favourite platforms and how it influences my daily lifestyle and interactions. Let’s enter my virtual world! 📱✨
As far as social media is concerned I use Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp the most. They all have a different function in my day. I am on Facebook primarily to keep up with my friends and family, as well as participate in some groups and to learn new things and connect with other like-minded people. Instagram is my go-to for pretty pictures, finding fashion and lifestyle inspo, and sharing bits of my life through stories and posts. And of course WhatsApp is essential for me! It’s the most convenient way to keep up with loved ones, share updates, or even get involved in various community groups. These platforms keep me informed, entertained and socially connected each and every day.
Typically I spend 3 – 5 hours a day on Social Media… but it varies on my day! Mostly, I’m on Facebook scrolling through, looking for post “I’d prefer to see posts from friends, interesting discussions in groups, or updates from pages I follow. Instagram is where I like to watch reels and look at fashion, beauty and travel content. WhatsApp is my daily driver when it comes to chatting with my family, friends, and groups. Other than these, I also watch makeup tutorials, cooking recipes and all other creative things on YouTube that I find helpful. And during my down time I look through TikTok, as well, since this app has short fun videos that are really relaxing for the brain. I use social media on a regular basis, and I do my best in order to utilize it for the best and in a fun way.
Yes of course, we can earn at social media. But truthfully, I’m not making money off the social media platforms that I spend the most time on. But people are actually making money using these mediums through social media like Facebook, Instagram or YouTube sharing videos, reels or posts. After that they can start earning money on their videos when they hit the monetization threshold. The majority who do make money from social media are content creators and influencers. They collaborate with brands, advertise products and get paid through sponsorships or ad dollars. So, as you see, if it is used wisely, social media can also be a great source of income.
Personally, I believe that social media is a double-edged sword, and can either be your friend or your enemy depending on your usage. And if we use it wisely, it is a great friend — helping us stay in touch with the people we love, learn new stuff, keep up with current events and show what we can do. It provides a medium for personal expression and building communities. But on the flip side, used and abused, it can become a foe. It can become addictive, our time waster, and can impact our state of mind and can even breed negativity with fake news or damaging comparisons. So I think it’s about balance and intention. For, if we know how to control our use, social media will always be our friend.
To sum up, social media is a significant part of my life now. It keeps me connected, entertained and even learning something new every day. Whether it’s ranting to loved ones, watching makeup or cooking videos, or just losing myself in some fun reels and TikToks —each platform serves a purpose in my life. But at the same time, I think you need to use it in a balanced way that’s positive and still helpful, not a distraction. If we’re smart about how we use social media, the platform really can be a “great friend” in our digital age.
