Lhokseumawe City Museum, Aceh
Hello Steemit friends, wherever you are, how are you all? I hope we are all still in good health and able to carry out our various activities well. In this simple post, I will review a historical site in my city: the Lhokseumawe City Museum, Aceh.
A museum is an institution that stores, preserves, and exhibits various, historical, artistic, scientific, or cultural objects. These historical objects are carefully preserved in museums for educational, research, and recreational purposes. Museums play a vital role in preserving cultural heritage and providing learning experiences for the general public. Museums provide information and knowledge through their collections and exhibitions, as well as educational programs aimed at various age groups. Museums also serve as research sites for scientists and researchers to study various aspects of history, art, and culture.
Every region undoubtedly has unique historical objects that are part of museum collections. The Lhokseumawe City Museum in Aceh Province is one of the places that houses various historical objects. The Lhokseumawe City Museum was established in 2014, when it was still managed by the Lhokseumawe City Education and Culture Office. After that, full ownership of the Lhokseumawe Museum was transferred to the Lhokseumawe City government. The Lhokseumawe City Museum is located on Jalan Teuku Hamzah Bendahara, Kuta Blang village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City, Aceh. Its location is very strategic because it is not far from the main road to the city center, which was once nicknamed Petro Dolar.
The main building of the Lhokseumawe City Museum consists of a traditional Acehnese house and a hall for storing rice, a rice pounder, and a bathroom. Like most other museums in various regions, the Lhokseumawe City Museum also has and stores various collections of historical objects. The Lhokseumawe Museum stores maps of the city of Lhokseumawe in the past to a collection of gold coins and various traditional weapons. The Lhokseumawe City Museum also stores a number of other historical objects such as swords, necklaces, fishing tools, ancient Qurans, spears, gold coins, gold accessories, ceramics, jars, and kande or lighting equipment.
Residents of the city of Lhokseumawe and the surrounding area can visit to see the collection of historical objects at any time because the museum is very easy to reach. Likewise, residents from outside can come at any time to visit because the Lhokseumawe Museum is open every day from 8:00 to 16:00 WIB. From the direction of the entrance to Lhokseumawe city (Simpang Selat Malaka Cunda) about 1 kilometer until you reach the Taman Riyadhah traffic light intersection, immediately turn right, then the museum will appear in front of the Islamic Center Mosque.
Visitors can enter for free without being charged a fee at the Lhokseumawe City Museum. The museum yard is also very spacious so it is safe for children who want to play. There is also a large and comfortable parking lot so that museum visitors do not need to worry about parking their vehicles. The museum yard is also very beautiful and shady so that it creates a calm atmosphere and visitors want to linger. The Lhokseumawe Museum is a showcase of the history and culture of the Acehnese people, especially the Lhokseumawe region which stores various important artifacts, historical documentation, and local narratives that are valuable for present and future generations.
