How do wars affect the lives of ordinary people including children?

Wars has greatly affected the lives of ordinary people and children in so many ways across the globe, and some of the ways are:

• Death and loss of parents: Many children lose their lives as a results of wars globally every year, making them to become vulnerable and suffering or fend for themselves as parents were missing or been killed as a result of the skirmishes.

• Risk of illness, disabilities: Wars inflicted hunger and starvation in our societies making the children and parents who are victims of wars to encounter lack of adequate nutritional food, resulting to so many sicknesses or physically disabled.

• Education disruption: Wars makes children's running from one corner of the earth to another looking for safety as such their academics goals were put on hold, perhaps could not access education anymore 😭.

In some other circumstances is that lots of children are traumatized, wars affects them psychologically, emotionally they are depressed, living in fear and feeling dejected, that's the extend wars can affect the life of ordinary people and children across the world.

Tell us about one historical war that had a major impact on the world?

Well, there is a recent deadly attacked in Yelwata community, in Guma local government Area, of Benue State Nigeria, where it claimed the lives of dozens of individuals in that very community.

The attacked happened on June 14th 2025, and was carried out by some suspected Herdsmen in the community, though there was tense between the ingenious people of Benue State and the Herdsmen for long, but this time around by this heartless being was way too much to bear, it was a terrible attacked making the entire nations to mourn for the people who loss their lives and those who are hospitalized.

Many houses, lives were burnt alive by this heartless suspected Herdsmen who only God knows, they succeeded on inflicting so many pains in the lives of the families involved.

However, this act has become major threats and areas for concern on the world as lives were burnt out and many were displaced, it's a terrible battle that the world would not and ever forget in years to come, and which amount for United nations organizations and international securities agencies to look on to the matter. Because Benue is bleeding heavily and North Central Nigeria is largely affected by this suspected Herdsmen.

How can we keep ourselves safe during the wars?

I think the only way to keep ourselves safe during war is to stayed informed and be at alert concerning our surroundings...

Why I said so is that, staying informed has to do with getting in touch with what is happening in our surroundings, maybe getting information about the environment where we live, whether is safe or not safe so as to find solutions, it could be getting locally news about the society, in other to avoid any unforseen circumstances.

While be at alert, is to be aware of the intending threat coming to the village or localities where we live, doing so it will make us be vigilance if possible find safety before the outbreak of war.

How can we stop wars and promote peace among the nations?

Well, from my own ends here the major ways to stop wars and promote peace among the nations is to create deep awareness to the people on the importance of living in peace with one another and on the devastating effects of wars, coz the outcome of war is very very bad, let's learn to tolerate one another irrespective of our religious or ethnicity, by educating our people on the need to live in peace, I think that's the global objectives.
