Seeing some new faces showing up for this challenge, I see it as a way of gaining acquaintances and getting to know some by giving a quick intro of myself. I am Nsisong John Robert, also known by the unique acronymous username nsijoro. I am from Nigeria, based in the city of Uyo, an undergraduate who's now a well-known fresh-baked graduate from the university. I have a deep interest in music; to show how deep, I will say I'm a bit addicted, but yet for good, since music is for the soul. Searching through the net with the handle @nsijoro will scan through all my handles on Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc., most of which carry my picture as their profile picture.

The song I'll be singing

I will be singing OCEANS by HILSONG. The lyrics are quite self-explanatory, but every beat and lyric means a lot to me.

Why this song

At this point I need to comport myself as a man, because most times what we don't wish happens, and not backing down or turning back proves to those around you how strong you are or seem to be. Maybe I wouldn't have been this strong if I hadn't passed through different tastes of failure, disappointment, distress, and depression, or maybe I have just had enough of the instructions that have kept me.

Yes, my device got stolen in church. I mean, in church. Definitely no one outside would be so bold as to pick up on a scanty 22nd of June church gathering. Getting it stolen a week before my exam was enough reason to be destabilised. Friends on this platform can testify how I juggled academics with blogging to ensure I became outstanding at both ends. Getting a better device to blog and provide the best content on this platform has been my goal, and since I got one, not a week has passed with me engaging in and out of this chain.

A full-grown human who has two hands as I do is capable of doing his best in securing his future, though it's best to steal to be rich. This song is a consolation for me, because this was not my intention, staying away for over a month and all of this stuff, but I am happy because the creator knows what's best for me, and as his thoughts are all for good, I believe he holds my hand and I will recover it all. (A story will be told sooner.)

Why I joined?

Firstly, this would have been me judging other singers, because I know how to distinguish parts a bit, but I love contests, especially ones where you put in your best, I mean tactically and technically, like league-kind of competition. It makes your heart beep and eyes wink to see the final result, just like the Squid Game. Secondly, I believe in a higher chance of winning. Sorry if I am being too optimistic, but it's good to believe in oneself, and I do. I believe in winning, and I love music.

Questions

A few questions I have to ask are

  • What are the chances of getting judges who are quite musical? Do they need to share their musical history to ascertain how well the singers are judged?

  • Another is, how many winners are we supposed to have, and how are rewards going to be distributed?

  • What strategy will be implemented to support contestants via the curation system? Because I see many interested people and entries in this challenge, and since it's going to be running for a long time, how are we going to encourage/support them?

There may be a few to pop in later. I really appreciate @bossj23's creativity in hosting this contest. Keep it up, man, and I would love my friends like @animal-shelter, @miftahulrisky, and @alejos7ven to join this contest, I am sure they can sing.
