The Diary Game: Preparing Fish Pepper Soup For My Entire Teammates And Officials (08-09-2025)

Guys!! I am so happy today. Guess what happened? Okay, so I was contacted today by my team manager to come lead the kitchen staff so we could prepare white rice with fish pepper soup. When I got the message, I thought he was pulling my leg, so I had to put a direct call to him. When he answered, he asked if I saw the message he sent. I was shocked. I told him I was game; it is a pleasure to do this.

I pleaded that I should be given some time to get things done at home so that I can get there when I am done. So I did my laundry and cleaned my flat before I took my clothes and went to the club's kitchen. Immediately after I arrived, I was hailed, and I knew I had to make it delicious; in fact,these guys resurrected the cooking beast in me. I went directly to the locker room and dropped my bag, then went to the kitchen and asked them to show me the fish I was to use and prepare the food.

The instruction was to make it the Nigerian way, so I listed out the ingredients I needed, and funny enough, all these things I will be listing out here were made available within some hours. Here are what I used in cooking the fish pepper soup:

• 5 Scumbia fishes

• Basmati Rice

• Curry leaf as toppings for rice

• Fish seasoning (Maggi seasoning)

• Salt

• Scent leaf

• Pepper (both fresh and ground)

I did not need much to make this, so I asked other guys in the kitchen to help me out with cutting the fish into pieces and making sure it was steamed so that it could get tender for it to be used. I took a break when the fish was steaming and the rice was still on heat.

I played a game. The total pieces of fish we had after being cut into pieces was 24, so I hid 5 and asked the guy that cut it to look for it and win the highest portion of the food. He searched everywhere, and I was out here laughing at him. He failed and couldn't find it, and then I went to one of the storage carts and removed it and showed him. He was laughing all through. I just like being lively at all times.

When I finished cooking, my teammates were waiting in anticipation for the outcome of what I was cooking. I brought it down to the conference room where everyone was seated; the aroma filled everywhere. I was complimented, and honestly, I felt honored to have these wonderful people finding joy in eating food prepared by me. Here is my own portion of the food.

When we finished eating, my coach called me and told me I did a nice job out there; he even said one day he will invite me to his home country to prepare a dinner at his residence. I will be glad to do that for this man.

I was tired after helping the kitchen attendants to clean up the kitchen. I couldn't let them do everything by themselves. When we were done, I tipped everyone in the kitchen; they were all happy, and I went back home. On getting back to my flat, I really needed to bathe and have my rest when my phone rang, and I checked it; my coach had sent a sum equivalent to my salary. I called and asked why such was sent; he told me that it was just a token of appreciation. I couldn't contain the joy, so I appreciated him, and then tomorrow, I will be buying breakfast for 5 people when I step out with part of the money.
