The word discipline can be best describe as a standard of behavior which involves the act of making people to obey a set of certain rules and also setting up punishment for those that refuse to obey.

Discipline in the family according to my own understanding can be best describe as the process where by the elders in a family (parents or guidance) ensure that the children tends to follow the set rules in the family as it affects them.

The importance of discipline in the family

• It helps in keeping everything including certain behaviors in order
• It helps in building respect
• It helps in the development of collective responsibility
• It builds up a child to grow and become a responsible individual in the society
• Discipline in the family helps in maintaining order
• It helps in the development of self control and the recognition of consequences

The right path of enforcing discipline in the family

Now this is the most important part of this article as it is very important to know about the right path of enforcing discipline in the family, some families always go about this the wrong way and it causes more harm than good

We all know that discipline comes with consequences and punishment, but hear me today that when disciplining a child do not rely too much on physical punishment because instead of weakening him or her it will only make them stronger and even more stubborn to instructions

So instead of depending on physical punishment I urge you all (parents) to try emotional punishment and watch out for the results, instead of beating him or her try sitting them down and give them wise advice on good morals

Instead of starving them or giving them punishment try making them to see the real dangers on their new way of life and showing them the right path by doing it yourself what they refuse to do (showing good example)

My observation

^{There's a family in our community their dad was a police man who always gave his children hard punishment for disobedience, through our their childhood and instead of respecting the father they were afraid of him}

^{And now the father is late, and the mother is the only one with the adolescent children and the mother was a soft one, the children grew up hard and stubborn and even recently one of the children have even beaten up the mother with broom over a little correction, the other one has join cult and making trouble in the community every single day.}
