Assalamu Alaikum to all of my steemian friends. How are you? Hope you all good are. Today I will share my experience of visiting Alutila cave Khagrachari chattagram. Thank you very much @mohammadfaisal for organising beautiful steam Atlas contest.

How to get there

If you want to visit Alutila Cave, you first have to leave for Khagrachari. There are several bus services from Dhaka to Khagrachari, including Shyamoli, Eagle, Shanti Paribahan. All these bus services can be used to travel directly to Khagrachari for 750 to 1700 taka, depending on the standard.

BRTC bus

Since I live in Chittagong, I took the 7:00 am bus from the city's Oxygen Intersection to Alutila Caves via Shanti Paribahan. The fare for the Shanti Paribahan bus departing for Khagrachhari was 250 taka per person. Every two hours, BRTC and Shanti Paribahan buses depart from the Oxygen Intersection for Khagrachhari. You can also use private car to go Alutila tourist Park. Return system is same.

About Alutila cave ( from the help of Wikipedia ) Reference

Alutila Cave is located inside the Alutila Tourist Park, 7 kilometers west of Khagrachari Sadar. This Alutila Cave is also known as "Matai Hakor" or God's Cave to the locals. The length of the cave is about 300 and a half feet. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to enter from one side of the cave and exit from the other side. It is completely dark inside the cave. Sunlight from outside cannot penetrate the cave.

Stairs

After a journey of about four hours, we reached the gate of Alutila Tourist Park at around 11 am. We got off the bus and entered the Alutila Tourist Park for a ticket of 50 taka per person. After entering the park, the tiredness of the journey was removed by seeing the beauty of the mountains all around. We went to the canteens of the tourist park on the left side and sat down. Although there was not much variation in the food in the canteens. There was no heavy food arrangement except singara and some chocolates and chips. However, green coconut was readily available.

Main Entrance of the cave

Since Alutila Cave is located 600 feet above sea level. So to enter Alutila Cave, we have to go down about 266 stairs. After going down these stairs, we will see the entrance to Alutila Cave.A spring of cold water is flowing through the bottom of this cave. Although there is a little light at the entrance of Alutila Cave, it is completely dark inside the cave.

Inside cave

There is no chance of sunlight entering. So, to enter the cave, you must use the light of your mobile phone or the charger light. Earlier, the locals used to sell "torches" in exchange 10 taka for entering the cave. But now, due to the ease of mobile phones, this torch is no longer used. I used the light of my mobile phone.

Stairs leading from the cave to the plain

Since my shoes did not have good grip, I entered the cave barefoot. I was quite scared while entering the cave. I have never taken such an adventurous, brave and thrilling step before. The height inside the cave is a little higher somewhere and a little lower somewhere. Again, there are rocks and hard rock soil grooves inside the cave. So you have to move forward carefully with firm feet. After about 15 to 20 minutes, we see the sunlight outside the cave.

Bridge

After leaving Alutila Cave, we went to see the spots on the other side of the tourist park. There is a hanging bridge made of iron to reach another hill from Alutila Cave. The bridge has a glass balcony. My children enjoyed this balcony very much. On the other side of the bridge, there is a seating area, a watch tower, and a beautiful garden. From the top of this watch tower, the high green hills of Khagrachari city can be seen. There is also a stage made like the Roman Colosseum.

My observation and tips :

  • Children and those with physical problems and a weakness for the dark should not enter the Alutila Cave, as it is quite dark and slippery and quite winding inside.
  • You should wear shoes with good grip and enter the cave with a torch or mobile light, charger light.

  • If you enter the cave in a group instead of alone, the fear inside the cave will be reduced to some extent.

  • However, you should refrain from shouting inside the cave.

  • Do not enter the cave with heavy bags. It is better to enter with the necessary water.
