It is a cycad tree (Cycas revoluta) or commonly known as cycad palm. It is a slow-growing evergreen ornamental plant. In Bangladesh, it is known as cycad tree / cycad palm. Scientific name: Cycas revoluta. A deciduous plant (seeds are open, no fruit). The leaves are long, narrow and feather-like in shape. Initially, the leaves are rolled up, but gradually they open completely. The tree looks very beautiful. It seems as if it is standing in a royal posture. It stands beautifully like an umbrella on one leg. They are so beautiful that it looks as if an artist has painted it very beautifully with a paintbrush. For this reason, it is used to decorate houses and gardens. In Japan, it is used to decorate houses under the name "Sago Palm".

If the tree is planted in a tub or container, the water in the container must be drained at all times. Otherwise, the roots of the tree may rot and the tree may die. Usually 1-2 sets of leaves come out per year. It takes many years to grow from 1 meter to 3 meters tall. These trees are called long-lived trees. These trees live for about 50-100 years. If these trees are planted in the right place, one generation can see this tree from one to two generations. These trees are as beautiful to look at as they are poisonous. So we should enjoy the beauty of this tree from a distance. Male and female trees are separate. Male trees have cone-like flowers and female trees have seeds at the base of the leaves. The seeds are large, hard-shelled, orange or reddish. They are very attractive to look at. But they are very poisonous. The seeds of this plant contain a type of poison called "cycasin." It is toxic to humans, dogs, cats, and animals. If an animal accidentally eats the seeds of this plant, it can cause liver damage, vomiting, weakness, and even death.

It should be planted in a place that gets enough sunlight. It needs at least 4-6 hours of sunlight. Again, care should be taken that the leaves do not burn in the intense sun. It would be better if there is a light ventilation system. And if you have to plant a plant in a pot, then it should be planted in a pot slightly larger than the plant. To prevent water from accumulating, make holes in the bottom or side of the pot. Water 1-2 times a week in summer. Water once in 10-15 days in winter. Water only if the soil is dry. Organic fertilizer (rotten cow dung, compost) should be applied twice a year. Once in summer and once at the end of the rainy season. If the leaves turn dry or yellow, cut off the leaves.
