1 Picture 1 Story Week #96

Hello my friends,

This is my participation in the competition”1 Picture 1 Story Week #96 orgnised by @suboohi in Steem For Pakistan

"I love you."
These words echoed in my mind, so I stopped. Slowly, I turned to Anjali.
"What did you say?"
She stood there, her hands clenched into fists, as if waiting for rejection.
"That's nonsense," I blurted out. "Since when do girls start professing their love to boys?"

"This must be some kind of prank?" I asked her, and I started walking faster.
"What do you mean 'prank?'" she asked, and then started walking behind me.
"I mean, where are the cameras? Where are your friends?" I increased my speed.
I could hear her footsteps getting closer, and she was following me too.

"Stop following me!" I yelled at her. After about three minutes of running, we were now just a short distance from the college's main building.
I looked back, but what was it? Just a second later, he grabbed me and threw me to the ground.
"Why do you think my proposal is a joke?" he said, pinning my body to the ground.
"You're a girl, but you're heavy."
"And you're a guy with a tooth about to fall out.
Maybe you want Sonia instead of me."
"I didn't say that."
"That's what it sounds like." He watched me get up and dust off my pants.
I looked at him, completely serious, never joking once.
I'd known her for three years.

"Tell me the truth, are you choosing Sonia?" Her voice was breaking now.
"I don't know yet."
"Don't!" she said, raising her voice.
"That's not your decision to make." I replied, raising my voice.
"I'm your best friend."
"But not my girlfriend." With that, I started walking back.

"I never liked you. "I'm sorry," I said, you were always my good friend .

"I know. You really can't lie to me."

We turned back to our class.

I returned to my class and sat down. There were only a few minutes left before the break ended.

Poor Anjali sat dejectedly in a corner, and Sonia was whispering to one of her friends, looking at me and smiling at me, perhaps she had found out what had happened between Anjali and me.
