Keep It in the Family (and Then Steal It) | Arthur Morgan's Untold Adventures, Part 17

Susan Grimshaw came up to me the other morning with that no-nonsense look she always wears. Told me Hosea left a message, said I should ride out to Emerald Ranch when I had the time. Apparently, he was checking into some business opportunities out that way. I gave her a quiet “alright.” She smiled, said Hosea always finds something worth doing, then wished me well. I told her I’m always well, which, at best, was half true.
Later that day, I rode out to Emerald Ranch. Found Hosea sitting outside a barn, chatting with a wiry-looking fella named Seamus. They were going back and forth in the way men do when they’re trying to feel each other out without showing too many cards.
When I walked up, Hosea introduced me, called Seamus our new partner. Seamus made it clear he wasn’t committed to anything. Said it was all just prospective. He also told us to keep quiet about the meeting. Didn’t want his boss catching wind of his “side business”. Hosea, always good at playing innocent, promised we were nothing but honest.

Then Seamus laid out the job. Said his cousin (Bob Crawford) had bought a stolen stagecoach. It was stashed in his barn out at a place called Carmody Dell, northwest of there. He wanted us to steal it. Told us not to kill anyone, though. People already knew he and Bob weren’t on great terms, so any bloodshed would lead back to him. Hosea found it amusing that he was fine with us robbing family and then he looked at me with a grin and said, “Let’s go rob his cousin.”
As we saddled up, I asked Hosea if he was serious. He told me to lead the way since I’d been roaming the area more than he had.
I wasn’t sold on Seamus, said he seemed like a joke. Hosea said that’s why he was perfect. Low risk. A safe place to fence stolen coaches. Easy money. He pointed out that if we couldn’t pull this off then we are not worthy of calling ourselves gangsters.
As we rode, I asked Hosea how he was feeling about everything. We’d been in the new camp a few weeks by then. He said he felt better, like things might actually be stabilizing.
Eventually, we reached Carmody Dell. Hosea pointed out the house and the barn behind it, said the stagecoach must be inside. We approached quietly on foot, took a quick look around. No one seemed to be moving. I decided we’d wait until nightfall to make our move. He’d grab the coach, and I’d check the house.

Once it got dark, we moved in. Hosea told me to peek through the windows before going inside. I did, then slipped in and grabbed whatever I could.
We regrouped with the coach, and Hosea was pleased. Asked me what I found. I told him, just a few pieces, nothing special. He said we needed all we could get these days. I joked that it was still better than fighting a thousand-pound grizzly. He laughed and said he wouldn’t forget that day anytime soon.
When we got back to Seamus, we parked the coach in his barn. Hosea greeted him with a sly line, said we’d met his cousins but good thing they were asleep. Seamus asked how it went, and Hosea assured him it went very well. He handed over the payment to us and said if we found any more coaches, he’d be interested. And this was his side business–to buy stolen coaches.
“Of course, pleasure doing business with you,” Hosea said. Then he turned to me and said he was heading back to camp and asked if I was coming. I nodded, and we rode off into the night, another job behind us, and the future still uncertain, but a little brighter than the day before...

Disclaimer
Arthur Morgan and the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 might be fictional creations by Rockstar Games, but my love for this game? 100% real. This is a new kind of adventure I wanted to bring to Steemit. I’m narrating the story of RDR2 from the perspective of its protagonist, Arthur Morgan, offering a fresh and immersive take on his journey. Rather than directly copying the game’s dialogues, I’m weaving Arthur’s emotions and experiences into a creative and fictional retelling. You can also experience this story in a cinematic way. I play the game, record my gameplay, edit the footage in the best possible way, and upload it to my YouTube channel. This way, after reading each story episode, you can watch it unfold like a movie.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗
En este episodio vimos una espléndida magia de la negociación; siendo esto algo no tan fácil de lograr en la vida real, pero cuando alguien tiene ese don, alcanza cosas importantes en su vida.
Te envío un fuerte abrazo💚
