SHE MADE IT, BUT NEVER LIVED IT: So hard to say goodbye to you my colleague.
Hello, Steemians, Good evening from my end.
"She dreamed of a better tomorrow, but tomorrow never came."
Abigail was a 25 year old young and vibrant lady who was full of hope for a better tomorrow. Her laughter could melt hearts, and her dreams stretched beyond the clouds. To her parents, she was not just their daughter; she was their pride, their answered prayer, and the reason they never gave up even when life was unbearably hard.
They gave all they had and even what they didn’t. Abigail's mother hawked under the scorching sun, and her father laboured from dawn till dusk, just to pay her school fees. They slept hungry many nights and still went out with an empty stomach the next day, yet smiled whenever they saw her studying, believing it would all be worth it one day.
And it was or so they thought.
After years of struggle, the long-awaited day finally came. It was her sign-out day. The day every student dreams of freedom, fulfilment, and the sweet taste of victory. Her white shirt was filled with colourful signatures, her heart with joy, and her eyes with tears of gratitude. She called home, her voice trembling with happiness:
“Mama, Papa, your girl made it”
Those words alone healed every wound her parents ever carried.
But life happened, in a very cruel way.
Just weeks after her celebration, she fell sick. What began as a mild illness became worse by the day. The parents went from one hospital to another, from one traditional treatment home to another, and from one church to another. Her parents prayed, cried, and even borrowed; they did everything possible to save her life, selling their last belongings and calling on every name they knew.
But the sickness did not listen.
One night, her mother held her hand and whispered, “You will be fine, my child.” She smiled faintly and said,
“Mama I’m tired.”
And that became her last word.
The home that once prepared for her graduation now prepared for her burial. Her certificate lay untouched on the table, a painful reminder of dreams that would never come true.
Her parents sat in silence, broken, staring at the sky as if expecting her to return, but tomorrow never came.

She had plans for life and fought so hard to live the life she dreamed of, but life also had other plans for her.
This is for every parent who sacrificed everything and for every child whose tomorrow never came.
