Sorry! A Word That Unites

in Steem Kids & Parents2 months ago (edited)

Greetings,

Sorry!!! Such a small word—but carrying a heavy weight sometimes!!! It’s funny how just five letters can either fix a broken heart or leave someone even more broken if not said right!!!

No one is mistake free. That is what makes us humans!!! And it is not only words in saying sorry but it is taking it seriously!!! Anyone can say sorry but that is not the real sorry, the real sorry is when one says sorry with a touch in the heart, with regret and the desire to set everything right again!

One of the mistakes, which I recall during my childhood, was related to public perception. I had destroyed my sister favorite mug. I even figured hiding the pieces was going to be nice and solve everything!!!! But no--it turned out to be worse instead when she learned. After making the apology, it was like tough swallowing a rock but when I ran up to her and said it coupled with a promise that I would never hide errors again-it was lighter!!!! That is the way sorry does work. It opens peace.

There are sad solutions where things cannot be made right. Some wounds remain not closed even after a thousand apologies. This is the reason that we have been cautious about what we do in the first place. If you are sure that you will need to say sorry later, do not hurt a person via words or by deeds.

Books and stories teach us this too!!! In A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, we see characters breaking and apologizing—but some mistakes leave scars forever. That’s why it’s better to use sorry with honesty—not just to save ourselves, but to heal someone else’s heart.

There’s also a sorry we need to say to ourselves!!! Yes!!! Sometimes we need to say, “Sorry for not believing in myself. Sorry for not taking care of my heart.” Forgiving yourself is also an important part of life!!!

Bruno Mars sang it best:
"Is it too late now to say sorry?"

Sometimes it is. Sometimes it’s not. But trying matters!!!

So next time you hurt someone—even by mistake—don’t hesitate. Go and say it. Say it with heart. And after that—change!!! That’s when sorry becomes powerful—not just a word, but a turning point!!!

Say sorry when needed. Mean it. And most importantly—learn from it.

Regards

This post is incredibly deep and beautifully written. You touched on so many layers of what “sorry” really means, not just a word, but a mirror of our humility and growth.

I especially loved the line about how real sorry is felt “with a touch in the heart.” That’s the difference between saying it to escape guilt and saying it to truly heal. Your childhood story was so relatable, we’ve all had those moments where we thought hiding the truth would protect us, only to learn that truth + a sincere sorry = real peace.

And yes, the reminder to say sorry to ourselves hit home. Sometimes we forget that we deserve forgiveness too, for the times we’ve been hard on ourselves.

Thank you for this message. It wasn’t just a post, it was a lesson in emotional maturity. I’ll carry this with me. 💛

You have said it all. One need to say sorry and mean it, regret our actions that had offended and be sure not to repeat such. I am glad that you apologised to your sister for hiding your errors and she accepted after you hugged her. That simple action shows that you really mean it. Thank you for your entry.
