SC-S24W3: Caricaturas.

Today I am very enthusiastic to be part of the contest SC-S24W Caricaturas initiative by @jesusnunez. That’s what makes this week’s theme so exciting! The subject matter is about drawing a cartoon and for someone that likes to express them creatively through art, I couldn’t help but join. Beyond the above, we can use hyperbolic proportions to the exaggerated, enable us to play up imaginary concepts and bring people to life in a lighthearted, exaggerated style through caricature. Can't wait to post my cartoon drawing and see how everyone else fills in this cute little prompt.
I opted to draw something funny and light: a joker face! I had so much fun drawing this funny-faced guy, I hope you like the finished piece as much as I liked working on it.
✅A sheet of art paper
✅A pencil
✅An eraser

🔹Starting with the Face Shape
With my pencil, I sketched the bottom half of the face and I drew that jaw line and chin with precision. I added a bit of a point to the chin to give the joker a clear shape, with a sense of fun.

🔹Drawing the Upper Face
Then I worked my way up, drawing half of the rest of the head that is halfway from its forehead to its top. I was careful to keep everything in line with the lower part of the face so it was kind of humorous but still flattering.

🔹Adding the Ears
Then I sketched the ears but not just any ears! To make it funny, I gave the joker huge ears that poked out just a little. It was that which had the cartoon look to it.”

🔹Creating the Hair and draw the eyebrows
I added the joker’s spiky hair after finishing the basic head structure. I sketched spiral curls on both sides near the ears, to give fullness and a little wildness around the face. Then, onto the wired features, I penned the eyebrows. I made them very short and arched, giving the joker’s face a sly expression.

🔹Drawing the Eyes and nose
Then the eyes, which I made big and round so it would give a big-eyed look. I also included tiny eyeballs in the middle to make the focus in your eyes seem very emotional. The nose I wanted to keep it rounded as the nose of a clown, to be faithful to the joker theme. This made the drawing more alive and fun!

🔹Draw the Mouth
Next, I moved to the mouth, which I widened with exaggerated lips. I gave the joker large visible teeth to indicate the joker is giving a big, silly grin to show off because his funny.

🔹Adding a Hat
To add anything to top of the joker's head will complete the character, so I added a jester's hat. It added a lot of personality to the drawing and made it look especially cartoonish and fun.

The Last Drawing Step of Pencil Sketching
Once I had the entire outline of the Joker face in place, I began with detail and shading using my pencil:
✅I began with the eyebrows adding texture, and deepening the lines. I then shaded the eyeballs, and took some care to high light over the pupils to give the joker some life. I started drawing hair and making little circles with the pencil to create some curls and volume.

✅Then I shaded the nose and added light shadowing, to make it look more rounded. On the lips and teeth, I added some contrast to make the smile pop out, making it big and obvious.

✅Last but not least I drew the hat, put in some shadows around the curves and the folds to make it look 3D that was it.

When everything was in place, I shaded all the drawing, darkening some lines where necessary for definition and to bring out the features more distinctly.

And there you have it, my joker face cartoon drawing was done! It was exactly as I imagined a zany, overblown, silly character that represents humor and fun. I loved sketching, shading and took part in this fun challenge with a smile in my face. I hope it makes you smile as much as your makes me smile
