Update #119: Writing Expedition ✍️||Checking Out My Vegetable Farm
I can not imagine going to the market to buy every bit of food item. Taking a look at the high cost of food commodities rising every day, the option for those who have spaces no matter how little in their homes, would put them spaces for farming.
It is quite advantageous when we have some of the foods we consume planted in our farms. It goes a long way to reduce our expenses. By this, some money would be saved or channeled to other needs we have.
My Vegetable(Pumpkin Leaves) Garden
This is a portion of the space where I grow my green vegetable. It is located behind my house and not afar off. In the spaces that I have, different types of crops are planted. I make sure that every part of empty space is made use of, by planting some crops there.
This Vegetable (Pumpkin Leaves) is one of the most consumed leaves in many homes. This is due to its affordability to homes, it's economic potential to farmers, and its nutritional compositions. This makes it to have a triple benefits.
For some years now, I have been planting this vegetable. It has been a great source of supply in terms of using vegetable to prepare meals, as well as providing income to support my expenses.
The Pumpkin leaves is known to be a rich source of vitamins and minerals that our body needs. Some of the the these vitamins and minerals are:
- Phosphorous
- Iron
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Vitamin A, C, and K
- Dietary fiber
- Protein
These vitamins and minerals have the following effects on our health:
- Improves heart health
- Aids the digestive system
- It deters anemia
- Acts as antioxidants
- Helps to maintain the skin
- It improves eye and bone health
- Enhances the immune system
Going by these healthy benefits, I would say that it is very important to make use of any available little space in our surroundings, as a garden for vegetable.
When considering planting this vegetable, it requires a free space where sunlight penetrates without shades. If there is the need to plant any other crop in the same garden as a result of lack of space, then it should crops with short life span such as maize only. Maize have short life span of about three to four months. It could be harvested within these period and free up some space for the vegetable to grow.
Finally, Making use of any available space no matter how little it is in surrounding for vegetable garden, is really rewarding. Every part of an empty space in my surroundings, is used to plant one crop or the other. This has been beneficial to at a long run.
