Sometime ago, we were sent to go get a big umbrella to gift some people, we wanted it in large quantities and all in a particular colour. When we got to the market the first shop we visited, we told them what we wanted and woman in the should told use when have to make an order from the company that produces it, that we can't get that colour.
We were almost discouraged and wanted to give up on the colour we came for and make a change, but decided to just check other shops if we could at least see other varieties and make our choices. The next shop we went to refused to let us see the umbrellas out of the packaging although they don't have the colour we wanted.
So we left the shop for another one, in this next shop we met a young girl, I guess she has just finished secondary school with her looks, she attended to us so well. The colour of the umbrella we wanted was green but the one she had was a mixture of green and other colours.
She was so patient with us that she agreed to open and hold the umbrellas for us to see how they looked. She was so kind that she had to direct us to a big warehouse where we could get varieties. When we got there, the shade of green we saw was the same as what this girl had shown us. So we have to go back to the girl, although it was a long distance from the warehouse to the girl's shop. But the girl's good approach made us go back to her despite the distance.
However, we have to go back because of her kind gesture and good service. When we got to her shop, while she was attending to us, I got talking with her and asked if it was her dad's shop. She said no, that she works for the owner of the shop. I told her how impressed I am with her services, and I have to get her phone number and her name.
The picture above is the picture I took of this polite sales staff while she took her time to display different umbrellas for us to see. Anytime I scroll through my phone since then and see this picture of hers, it reminds me of her. I will definitely patronise her again, anytime i want to buy umbrellas.
The attitude of sales staff towards their customers matters a lot. A welcoming environment and a positive attitude towards your customers motivates them to buy from you, just the way we did to this lady, and your customers will come back again because they feel valued.
