THE PREGNANT SUNDAY |
---|
Even while writing the rain keeps raining. Last Sunday was rainy too. Maybe Sunday just rains probably to symbolise something unique. To me, I interpret the rain on a Sunday as God sending down his blessings upon His children. His beloved children. We are a blessed generation. God is so good to us whether you agree or disagree. Even that stuff that bothers you, believe me that God is in control. Just that we are too quick to forget!
He helps you today in a very difficult situation that you never imagined you could get through, and tomorrow, you forget and put him to doubt again.
That's the problem that God keeps having with us, doubt! It didn't start with us but with the Israelites of old. God blessed them at different points of their life but they kept doubting God and they forgot so quick.
Let's not emulate that.
Remember one or two things that God has done for you and let that be enough to always keep you away from doubt. Doubt is not good. It makes God not effective in your life. That's why our Lord Jesus said in the the scriptures that even if your faith is as little as a mustard seed, that we can say to the mountain, move! and it moves.
That's by the way.
I will briefly share with you how my day went.
Just like I did say, the morning started with cloudy weather ☁️
The sky looked pregnant and was really close to delivery. Of course the sky delivered and the child was a blessing. His name was rain..
Unlike other Sundays, this Sunday was different.
I told you that we don't eat on Sunday morning before going to church, an article I wrote here last Sunday. I was right though, but today was different.
Yesterday night, my dad arrived from the village were he stayed to do things that will still help the family to grow. So he left with mum on Monday and he arrived yesterday, though mum didn't return with him. Mum was still in the village, even now.
When he arrived that yesterday, I helped him wash the car that was really dirty because of mudy roads and what he stuck in the trunk.
So when it was evening, he gave me some cash to go get things to prepare today in morning to eat and go to church. I did it perfectly well ❤️🩹 but it delayed me a bit. I cooked plantain and beans and I bet you it was really delicious 😋 😋 😋 😋
After eating I rushed to church. Believe me, church was fantastic today. When I arrived I heard the sweetest voice of Christians echoing in joy 😊
Then I recalled that today was the first Sunday of the month where we teach new songs. It was just a song practice session, but it was as if the angels were singing around God in heaven. Then I entered inside the Church to join my beloved brethren 😍
I ARRIVED THE CHURCH VENUE |
---|
Today’s church service started as usual with an opening prayer just after opening song. Today was song practice, but honestly, it didn’t feel like practice at all. I was still outside when I heard the voices echoing—rich, joyful, and full of life. It stopped me for a moment. I just stood there, listening. The singing wasn’t just music—it felt like worship pouring out from deep within.
It was as if angels had joined the other host of heavens in songs, like heaven opened just a little to let us feel what goes on up there. The joy in those voices reached my heart before I even stepped in.
And that’s what made today special. The service had technically started, but long before the sermon or prayers, I was already full. That worship, that atmosphere, reminded me that God doesn’t wait for programs. Sometimes, He enters with the first note.
And today, He came in through the music.
And just when I thought that moment was the best, there came this young man, a student preacher. I had plans to snap with him today but unfortunately I couldn't. You know how it is after church. You greet Mr A, greet Mr B and Mr C is no where to be found. Maybe he's somewhere at another corner trying to greet other brethren 😍
This young man came and join us, I think two Sunday ago. I knew he was a student preachee just like the church did introduce him but when he gave sermon today, I realised that he was actually a preacher. The young man taught with energy, passion, illustration and zeal. I really enjoyed every moment of today's service!
THE SERMON |

TOPIC: Bake your thoughts into cake 🎂
TEXT: Matthew 5:15(KJV)
Neither do men light a candle, and
put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."
This message touched my heart deeply. It made me realize that God is not waiting for some big event before He uses us—He’s watching what we do with the little ideas, the small talents, and those “quiet” thoughts we often ignore.
Baking is using raw ingredients and making something beautiful, sweet, and useful through heat and time.
Your thoughts are like those raw ingredients—ideas, dreams, burdens, and messages God lays in your heart.
The cake is the result. Something others can see, feel, taste, and be blessed by.
Now, here’s the twist: many of us keep our thoughts hidden. We’re afraid. We doubt ourselves. But look at Matthew 5:15—“No one lights a lamp and hides it under a basket.” That means: don’t hide what God gave you.
When you start acting on those small ideas—posting that message, singing that song, encouraging someone, even baking actual pastries—you’re baking your thoughts into cake. And that cake will feed others spiritually or even physically.
The student preacher said something powerful: “God will use that pastry you’re making to lift you.”
In other words, the small things you’re doing now—the ones that feel ordinary—God sees them. He can use that “small cake” to announce you to the world.
But he also warned: don’t open the oven too early. In baking, if you open the oven too soon, you spoil the process. He likened this to allowing sin, impatience, or distractions to interrupt what God is doing in you. There’s a time to check if your cake is done—don’t rush it. Let God finish His work.
So, don’t wait for perfect conditions. Don’t let sin ruin the process. Start baking, stay focused, and trust God’s timing. Someone out there needs your cake 🍰🎂
AFTER SERVICE TODAY |
---|
After service, I took some nice shots with my fellow brethren 😍
The one on green is my biological brother, my immediate Elder brother.
The one on white is my colleague in school from the same department. He is in mathematics education while myself is in chemistry education.
It was really awesome 😎 being in church today with my brethren. If church fit sweet like this, how beautiful heaven must be!
I left with my brother to our usual location after church. And guess where?
That's Tinaries!
Fortunately, remembered to take a picture of the place today unlike last Sunday. I had to use the image of Nwangiba Tinaries from opera mini.
But here is the Tinaries at Ikot Ekpene road where we normally stop by.
My brother got 3 Boristo and 3 sprite drinks.
I took pictures of mine when I arrived home😃
A Boristo cost for ₦1200
A bottle of sprite cost for ₦500
I really enjoyed myself.
It was later in the evening that I prepared Nigerian meal for the family. Guess the meal?
I prepared edikaikong soup 🍲
It was super amazing 😍 🤩
