The Diary Game || 1-08-25 || The Birthday of a Great Man
The Birth of My Supporter: A Birthday Tribute Beyond Cake and cheers 🥂 |
---|
Yesterday wasn’t just the 31st of July. It was a reminder. A gentle nudge from life that no matter how hard things get, God still places people in our path who act like angels — not with wings, but with actions. It was my brother’s birthday. The same brother I once told you all about, the one who left a private school job that nearly drained him, and ended up getting a tricycle that later rescued me.
Yes. You still remember a post I made where I shared how he got the tricycle not directly from someone, but through a connection — a man my dad once helped. That same tricycle that arrived with celebration and little fanfare year before last is what God used to fund my project work, my final year needs, and even my sign out. Honestly, yesterday wasn’t just a birthday; it was a Thanksgiving Day in disguise.
We had gone to Market Square on the 29th to take some pictures against his birthday which was yesterday. I’ll still drop one of the pictures in this post, but let me focus on the man behind the camera flashes.
That's me on black with my brother about 6 years ago. The photos of our outing as at yesterday are coming on the way. Keep reading!
From a Chalkboard to a Steering Handle |

He used to teach in a private school where the policy was terrible. Imagine being told to stay back after school until every child had been picked up — even when your salary can't carry you to mid-month. He used to come back home between 4 and 6pm every day, completely worn out, and I could feel the disappointment in his steps. Not in teaching — because he loves children — but in the system that refused to value its own workers.
But then, something changed.
Not up to a week after he resigned, he was introduced to someone who offered him a tricycle on hire purchase. As at then, a new tricycle was going for about 2.2 million naira. Now, that same tricycle costs between 3.5 to 4.5 million naira. So when I say that tricycle is gold, I mean it — both figuratively and literally. It's no longer that regular keke you see on the street. It’s a family lifeline on three wheels.
The Unseen Hands of God ✋ |

I still remember clearly how things became rough when my dad got financially down. My school fees, final project, printing, even my day-to-day needs — all of it started choking me slowly. And just when I thought I would pause my education or start borrowing left and right, it was that same tricycle that brought revival.
Every time he came back home from running Bolt or doing shuttle around UNIUYO permanent site (permsite), he dropped something small into my hands — sometimes money, sometimes food, but always hope. God is truly omniscient. That keke was bought long before I needed help, and even though it wasn’t mine, it became my survival tool. You can’t tell me God doesn't see ahead.
People have stopped trusting hire purchase these days. Too many stories of drivers disappearing with the keke, or refusing to complete payments. But for my brother, it was different. It was favour and grace meeting at a junction.
No Candle 🕯️, But So Much Light 🚨
So when we talked about taking pictures at Market Square, it wasn’t just about the birthday. It was to freeze a moment in time.
A time when we could afford to smile. A time when we weren’t worrying about what to eat or how to pay printing bills. A time when the helper I never expected was the same person I call my brother.
He’s more than a brother. He’s my driver — in all senses of the word.
Let Me Tell You More About Him |
---|
He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration. He was part of the second-to-last batch that graduated from University of Uyo, Permanent Site (Permsite). Today, he runs Bolt services, and also does shuttle at UNIUYO Permsite. He owns a Facebook page where he promotes his transportation hustle and shares motivational content once in a while. (I’ll drop the handle after this post.) probably at the comment section of this post.
He’s the kind of person that if you need someone by 5am, he’ll wake up by 4am just to beat your expectation. Special driver. Special brother. Special human.
Through him, I believe our family is moving somewhere good. Yes, we still have challenges. My dad is still recovering from the financial hit. But with men like my brother on our team, I believe he will rise again, stronger and smiling.
At The Market Square |

When we arrived the Market Square, I shot him a governor and president level of video 📷
Believe me it was so cool 😎
Oya watch through this link 🔗 🖇️ on Facebook 👇

After watching, you may think that I have any level of experience in this, but I have non. I just do it when I'm called upon and I deliver at my best.
When we got inside, he first met with a lady who stopped him and gave him a booklet that is meant for those with interest of flying out.
But I and my brother cannot fly out from this sweet country 🤣
We never ready ooo🤣
Then as I kept filming him, he bombed into a renounce politician in our local government area, Etim Ekpo, Hon. Mfon Ilung (Hon. Member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika).

You could imagine the courage I took to film this two, especially this Politician.. it wasn't easy inside but I overcame. The two scenes are in the link above respectively. At first I didn't recognised him. Maybe if I did, I would have dropped the camera down 😁
Then we moved in. We took pictures of different kinds. I never knew that children drive until I was in there. The place was beautiful and fun to stay. We have a very wonderful birthday pre- preparations on Wednesday.
After that moment, we came out from the market. My brother wanted to change up and take pictures on another outfit but he met with a man on his power bike outside. He asked the man to please take pictures with him. The man was friendly and accepted. The man even went as far as asking my brother to take pictures with his power bike if it pleases him. That was pure.
My brother, after having some shots with him also climbed on the bike to have shots as well.
"The bike is really heavy!", he said.
It was really nice to film him on the bike.

After this very scene, he went to his tricycle to change up. After changing up, I film him again as he walked majestically into the market Square.
This time was different.
We didn't stay for long.
He paid ₦1000 for us to play a full round of the table tennis 🎾
It reminded me of my last days in Obong Christian High school. Because it was during my last days that the table tennis 🎾 arrived my school and I had little experience.
Watch the table tennis 🎾 challenge here👇
He won me in the challenge 🤣😭
That was only possible with his wicked service.
He began to complain of tiredness. Even me sef tire.
We left the market and we hopped in the tricycle and we drove back home. He dropped me somewhere with transport fare and he progressed to carry a passenger that booked him.
The Birthday 🎈🎂 Day |

Nothing really happened sha...🤣
Guy wait ooo, you been no read the title of this post? Go back and read well.
There was no cake.
No happy childish song😂
We took it raw🤣
When you understand the background you came from, some things would not bother you.
But then... something significant happened that day. That was the last day to join the contest organised by bossj23 and other dignitaries in the community. I was saying to myself, "why am I delaying this?"
Seriously I was disturbed and I took a bold step and glory be to God Almighty that I didn't miss it. I joined the voice of steemit and it was great 😃
Before I could write the post, shoot myself singing and uploading the video on YouTube and putting everything in place😃
Guys!
You need to see the hunger that struck me and the birthday celebrant 🤣
He told me to finish up and prepare what we will eat. Before now all other siblings of mine left home remaining myself and the celebrant.
He sent me 2K to prepare something.
I added 1.25K .
Then I bought four super pack indomie.
I bought 2 eggs.
I bought power oil.
I bought ibat(fish).
I bought onion.
I bought crayfish.
Every other thing inside that tray was from my backyard.
If you haven't cooked indomie before with these recipes, you need to. Do and thank me later. The taste speaks it all. Especially the flavour that the ibat adds and the curry leaf 🌿 it's priceless.
Maybe I will do a special post to show you how I went about it. But it's really simple.
After finishing up, I excused him to let me have a moment with his own food for steemit publication 😃
Birthday 🎈 🎂 Tribute to my Brother |

Happy birthday, my brother, my helper, my answered prayer in human form. Sometimes I sit and think—what if you never got that tricycle? What if you stayed in that private school where they never valued you? But God saw ahead… He knew one day I'd need you more than ever. That tricycle didn’t just carry passengers—it carried my final year dreams, my project, my sign-out, my hope. You’ve become the quiet hero in my story, driving us not just around town but closer to destiny. May this new age reward your sacrifices, open fresh doors, and fill your heart with joy that mirrors what you’ve given me. I love you, bro.
