THE SENDFORTH: TAKING A BOW INTO ANOTHER PHASE

in Steem Kids & Parents13 days ago

Securing admission into the university wasn’t an easy task . I wrote the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams several times successful. The problem I encountered was that my name was never shortlisted for final screening due to how competitive the course I wanted to study was. It wasn’t easy, but finally, light shone on my path; I got admitted. God had always been there for me right from the onset of my academic journey.

The church campus fellowship, which I identified with through the help of some fellowship members had been a strong pillar for me. The campus fellowship is has a greater percentage of intellectuals running different courses within and around my campus. My program was to last for 4 years, but it got extended to 5 years due to a prolonged strike action that affected all the federal universities in my country in 2020. It was actually a blessing in disguise for me, as that period was used to achieve something remarkable.

My church campus fellowship is not just concerned about our spiritual growth but also interested in our educational advancement. As freshers on campus, they did their best to organize a freshers’ reception for us, which was backed up with important information we needed to know about our citadel of learning.
We had lots of seminars, workshops, conferences, and retreats organized by the fellowship and the mother church to help in our all-round development. This had always been a normal routine in the fellowship to help freshers navigate throughout their stay on campus. The fellowship was truly a home away from home. Every fellowship hour was never worthless; you would always leave a better person.

Whatever has a beginning will surely have an end, this has been triggered in our own case. Our program in school has been concluded. The church campus fellowship, as it has always been, decided to organize a send-forth service for us on the 10th of August. We, the fresh graduates, were really excited because the journey hadn’t been easy. Prior to this time, we've had special seminars on business and marriage.

The day of the send-forth was really a time of reflection for me. I had to examine my life to see if I had really made the best use of my time on campus. Lots of questions ran through my mind as the sermon and other activities were going on. The sermon on Divine Tree for Sweetening Every Mara, was taken by the State Campus Coordinator.

He admonished us to recognize pertinent partnerships, always strategize for the miraculous, select and climb on the shoulders of meaningful men, and always seek our Maker. There were certain things I had wanted to do in my fellowship but couldn’t due to procrastination. I just got reminded that the clock, no matter how slow it ticks, is making great moves.

There were lots of activities that day: spoken words, song ministrations, gift presentations, and pictures with the men and women God had positioned in the fellowship to help us through that phase of our lives. I really did not want to make it loud, but I had some of my friends around who were so amazed by the event and wished it could be replicated in their church fellowship. My mom was present with some other relatives. We got our tummies filled up, courtesy of my mom, before we all had to part ways.

It's really a day I wouldn't forget in a hurry.
