The diary game week 37// 03-07-2025// My induction into the teaching profession as A Certified And Licensed Chemistry Teacher.
Hello Steemians, today is one of the happiest days of my life, as I was inducted, certified, and licensed as a Chemistry teacher into the teaching profession. I’m so happy to share this special experience and milestone with my Steemit family."
I woke up Today with a different feelings, a special day, a day I long waited for, work day and night for this day, and that day was yesterday 3rd July, 2025. It marks a milestone in my journey as an academic and a chemistry educator. With pride, dignity and deep gratitude, I officially inducted into the teaching profession, fully licensed and certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) at the University of Uyo. This isn’t just another certificate, it is my dream profession, the rewards of my struggles, and recognition of my readiness and commitment to serve in one of the noblest professions in the world, "teaching, The mother profession".
At home before living. Even with heavy rain fall.
I left house at about 10am to Oyeama Ogochukwu Hall, University of Uyo where the event took place. From the moment I stepped into the venue, I could feel the weight and dignity of what was about to happen. The atmosphere was formal as everyone was putting on induction gown, and we match from the faculty of Education to the venue. All my colleagues and fellow teacher-trainees, lecturers, Vice-Chancellor, Honorable Commissioner of Education, TRCN officials, family, and friends gathered to witness this memorable induction ceremony at the venue.
All the inductees came dressed in their best. Some wore corporate attire, while some of us came in traditional wears representing our Nigerian culture. As I looked around, I could see the pride in eyes of those who had guided and supported us throughout our academic journey. Parents were celebrating with their children, pictures were taken. But for some of us , we didn't spend too much time in the celebration venue because we had exams also the same day by 3pm. So after taking the Oath , rush out for our examination.
The program kicked off with the Nigerian national anthem , followed by University of Uyo Anthem and a opening prayer. This was followed by welcome remarks from university firstly by the Vice Chancellor, follow by the Dean faculty of Education and the officials and the representative from the TRCN. The keynote speaker reminded us that teaching is not just a job, "it is a calling". He emphasized the need for professionalism, continuous self-development, and a deep passion for learners.
She charged us to guide and protect the dignity of teaching profession.
The Vice Chancellor In his speech, congratulated us on our calling to class room and ended his inspiring and highly motivated speech by wishing us successes in our profession. He charged us to always remember that University of is a Brand and we need to always protect it in our daily life.
The Oath taking:
Then came the moment we had all been waiting for: the administration of the TRCN Induction Oath. Standing tall among my colleagues, I raised my right hand and repeated the words with joy in my heart and the feelings of fulfillment in me, these words that made everything official. In that moment, I knew I was crossing a threshold, from being a student of Chemistry Education to being a registered and licensed Chemistry teacher in Nigeria.
What This Means to Me
At that very moment, I had this sense of responsibility and fulfilment in me as it re-echos in my mind and heart that Becoming TRCN-certified is not just a requirement, "it’s a badge of honor". It validates the years of study, the sleepless nights, the practicals in the lab, the teaching practice in real classrooms, and the passion I’ve nurtured for impacting knowledge into young learners was fulfilled today.
From today forward, I now carry not just a degree, but a license that legally backs my role in the education system. I am now recognized not just by the university, but by the federal regulatory body for teachers in Nigeria. It a dream comes true because I love teaching and teaching as a profession.
Reflections and Gratitude
There is overwhelming joy in my heart as I pen this diary entry. I thank God for the grace to reach this point. I thank my parents and guidance, my lecturers for their mentorship, my friends and family for their support, and all my classmates for the shared struggles and laughter. It started with struggles but today it ended with overwhelming joy and celebration.
Conclusion.
With today’s induction, I officially join the ranks of professional educators across Nigeria. I am no longer just a graduate, "I am a certified Chemistry teacher", licensed by the TRCN, ready to impact, inspire, and innovate young learners to actualize their dreams and discover their potential.
I invite you all to share in my joy, to celebrate with me because the Journey in Chemistry was never an easy one but God did it for me. Here I am celebrating His love. Thank you all my Steemians friends @bossj23 @basil20 @nsijoro @ruthjoe .
Congratulatuons to you sir, the acquaintance of this certificate shows a step up in your academic journey, the oath taking is an indication that you vouch to serve, seeing intelligent chemist like you reminds me of those times where I had difficulty in foundational chemistry, ambiguous concept without a clear explanation by some teachers, the future will be brighter with determined chemist like you, well grounded to impact our children who will be obsessed with science.
