Greetings my dear steemians. I believe everyone is well and hearty. May God name be praised. Sharing my food diary with my steemit family is a beans and yam recipe I cooked this afternoon.

INGREDIENTS USED
• Crayfish
• Pepper
• Onions
• Palm oil
• Salt.

STEP 1
Pour clean water in a pot and set the pot on fire to boil. While the pot is on fire, bring your beans and select dirt out from it. When the water in the pot start boiling, pour your washed beans inside it to simmer for two minutes. After two minutes pour out the beans in a sieve to remove the water( this is done is remove any chemical preservatives used in preserving the beans).

STEP 2
Put the parboiled beans back in the pot and add a clean water and set on the fire to cook. Add onions to it immediately to facilitate the softening process. Cook for fifteen minutes before adding other ingredients.

STEP 3
My daughter helped me in pounding the crayfish in the mortar. The pepper is already grounded. So in the pot of beans, crayfish pepper, one spoonful of palm oil and salt to taste was added.

STEP 4
The yam was peeled, washed and cut into tiny pieces. It was added to the beans lastly when the beans is a little soft. Cook till it softens then bring it down from the fire and dish out.

Note: The specie of beans I cooked is called brown beans (Ewa Oloyin in yoruba). Beans contain both carbohydrate and protein. They are also a good source of fiber, vitamins and minerals.

It’s fiber content makes it good for weight management. It makes you feel full. Furthermore, it is easy to digest making it good for gut. Beans has other benefits to the human body which you can browse further if you want to know all.
