SC S25W1: Drawing Kodomo Anime

Hello, amazing Steemit friends!
I’m agitated to join Season 25, Week 1 of the Anime Drawing Challenge , where the focus is on the joyous and expressive Kodomo Anime genre . As an anime lover and an art enthusiast, this challenge offered me the complete opportunity to relive the charm of childhood anime and ameliorate my drawing expertise.

For this week’s challenge, I Choosed Pikachu, the most iconic character from the Pokémon series.
Pikachu ideally represents the Kodomo style artful, unornamented, colorful, and significant — features that appeal right to children and spark heated fuzzies in observers of all times.

Step- by- Step Drawing Process

Required Material:

1- A4 Size White Paper
2- Eraser
3- Sharpener
4- HB Pencil
5- Pencil Colours

Step 1 outlining the Base forms

I commenced by drawing two circles one for the head and a slightly larger one for the body .

Also I appended a vertical and perpendicular line inside the head circle to support place the facial features.

This helped me learn the proportions exactly, which is veritably meaningful in Kodomo- style art, specifically for large eyes and small limbs.

Step 2 Building the Form

I draw the ears using two altitudinous spheres listed slightly outside.

Also I added two lower spheres for the arms and stocky bases below the body circle.

I sketched the tail using a lightning- shaped zigzag.

Step 3 Facial Features and figure

Next, I traced the eyes, slender nose, and a resultant smile, along with the rosy cheeks, which are autograph Pikachu features.

After finalizing the line composition, I gently wiped out the extra drawing lines.

Shading and Colouring

I used varicolored pencils to shade Pikachu, pertaining yellow for the main, pitch-black for the ear tips and eyes, and red for the cheeks.

I vocally added shadowing on the side opposite the light source using a 2B pencil for redundant depth. The shadowing made the character pop more and gave it a softer, more finished look.

Then's my final drawing of Pikachu along with a selfie holding my artwork, including my username and the date to verify my entry

My Thoughts

This was such a fun and meaningful challenge. I learned a lot about simplifying forms, working with proportions, and the suggestive power of Kodomo- style art. I’m agitated to see what other artists have created and can not stay to try coming week’s challenge!
