during investigation

I have been away from writing on my blog for almost a month now. Not that I haven't been coming online, but I mostly only curate and read some publications, as well as work with @steemkidss account for upvote, making weekly contest updates and weekly x-share report.

However, I have been very busy off chain on the following engagements

  • Exams Invigilation
  • Searching for apartment for renting and Paying my bills
  • Helping my Daughter and niece with their admission in Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic
  • Planning and going on camping for Unassigned preaching campaign
Exams Invigilation

As a lecturer in Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba, I was assigned to be part of the invigilating team for the second semester exams. Not minding that I am new in the employment, I was assigned to start invigilation on the very first day the exams began and I was paired with a colleague who was also employed at the same time with me.

The schedule for the exams revealed that the exams will began on the 4th of September and end on the 19th if there is no obstruction. According to the schedule, I was to invigilate from the first day till the end. 4 days in a week because Mondays aren't school. But we had a public holiday on the 7th and the papers for that day was shifted to 18th.

Each day of the exam, it began by 8am. We had the morning exams from 8am to 10.30 am, mid-day from 11am to 1.30 pm and then the afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. I invigilated twice on 2 days of the exam days and others were just one.

The invigilation involves signing in before picking the question papers, answer booklets and attendance sheets,

then in the exam halls assigned for the paper, you will make sure that the students are seated without anything that could implicate them,

Distributing the answer booklets before the question papers

Filling the attendance form and passing it around for the students to fill out their details

Then moving around, maintaining an eagle eye to be able to catch anyone who is cheating, no seating down, you have to be moving around for the whole period of the exam

When the alloted time for the exam is over, retrieve the attendance list, collect the answer booklets from them and count to confirm that the number on the attendance corresponds with the booklets

Return the booklets, fill the return form and sign out on the attendance for invigilators

The booklets are also examined one by one , any blank space is ruled off to avoid the lecture taking advantage. Then bundle and submit.

Paying my bills

This included my school fees as I have gotten admission in the Akwaibom State university of continuous education. We are starting lectures on the 3rd of October this year.

Scouting for accomodation and paying for the rent so that my family and I can move to my state of employment. The house there is very expensive but thank goodness we were able to get one that is considerably better. This decision will be best as my daughter will be starting school next semester in my school of employment. She can't be shuttling weekly and as a minor, I wouldn't want her to live in hostel. Our house in my current city of residence will be rented out if we see a good tenant that can manage it. We will still be visiting on vacations depending on the agreement.

Other bills were also taken care of, though we haven't moved in yet, the owner of the house that we rented insisted that we buy his sofa because it was coupled inside the seating room. Taking it out will mean dismantling it. We did pay for it because it is still new and fits the seating room a lot.

Some other bills will still be taken care of because I still need to buy textbooks and higher vehicle to carry out loads to the other city. We are still planning to relocate. It will be sooner because my son needs to change school and start immediately so that he can meet up.

Helping my Daughter and niece with their admission in Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic

Since I am working in the Polytechnic now, it is easier to get admission through me. Yes, I know who to meet for it and how to go about it. I already know most of the staff there that can help with the admission processes because I schooled there and my legacy still stands. Even the deputy Rector was once my lecture. Being one of the intelligent students then and being the course representative to most of the lecturers including the present Deputy Rector, and graduating with first class then. Almost everyone loves me and gives me easy access.

I advised my niece and her siblings to try and further their education. I also advised some other family members and my hometown relatives. They are keying in immediately. As for my daughter, she has already gotten admission, what is left is for her to do her screening and wait for lectures to start by November. We will soon go there for it.

Planning and going on camping for Unassigned preaching campaign

Another exciting thing I occupied myself with for the past one week is camping and preaching campaign. Yes, my Christian friends organised a preaching campaign in another village where there is greater need for kingdom preachers. They told me about it and my kids were so excited to be there. It is going to be there first experience. But I had gone 2 times before COVID-19. It is for 7 days and all the 7 days will be for preaching the gospel. We are to live together, eat together and share things in common for the period.

I prayed so much for me to be free that week. Thankfully, the exams Invigilation ended a week before that week and every other plans clicked as it were. We made the payment as agreed, bought some things we will be needing and went on the 21st of September. How it was spent will be a story for another day. The goodnews is that we were able to go as a family, enjoyed together and did the work that took us there. Altogether, we were 30 that went to assist the resident congregation to help preach the goodnews. It ended with great successes.

Now I am back

Yes, I have concluded with most of the things that made me stay away. For instance, the exams are over, we have found accommodation and will soon move in. The unassigned preaching campaign is over and my studies will soon begin in Ernest. But I will be active at my own pase because I will have to concentrate on my studies and when school for my lecturing resumes, I will also be busy because courses will be allocated to me this time.

I have missed a lot of users like @genomil @heriadi and others. Though some have been keeping in touch by viewing my WhatsApp status, users like @adeljose @karianaporras @graceleon and others and I have been viewing theirs too. I have also been in touch with few others especially those that are mods in both steem kids and parents community and steem4nigeria community. I don't know if @okere-blessing missed me though I spoke with her over the phone sha, I mean missing my publications, lols 😂! Anyways, the vibes continues.
