I Cooked Ogbono Soup || Let Me Share My Recipe||
Hello, what's up my guys? We had an interesting time yesterday preparing a smooth but simple breakfast, today I was craving a Nigerian dish so going out to a Nigerian restaurant would've cost me some bucks so I decided to do it myself. I couldn't snap the process, please pardon me for that.
There is this food we call Ogbono soup, it's one of the best soup I have tasted in my entire life, when I was in Nigeria few weeks ago, I made sure I ate it multiple times before coming back to Israel, I had to even take the ingredients used in the preparation from Nigeria down here. For some people it could make you stool frequently if you are new to it or if your body system doesn't get used to it but for what it should, I have always liked it from childhood.
INGREDIENTS FOR OGBONO SOUP
• Ogbono seed (please I don't know the english name, you can ask for it in a supermarket selling African things)
• Palm oil
• Hot leaf (dried one or fresh, but for this one I used dried one)
• Seasoning cubes
• Dried fish
• Crayfish
• Stockfish
• Periwinkle (if you can get it)
• Salt (for taste)
• A cup of water.
• Pepper
PREPARING OGBONO SOUP (Personal Practical Steps)
• Grind the ogbono seed into powder form.
• Add crayfish and pepper to the grinded Ogbono and grind again.
• Pour out the Ogbono mixture into a bowl and add a teaspoon of palm oil, make sure to stir it till it has finally been mixed up.
• Wash your protein source, like dry fish and stock fish, if you have cow skin you can add, but for this one, I didn't do that.
• Then, cook the dry fish and stock fish till they are tender.
• After the protein sources becomes tender, add the ogbono mixture and stir it till it is even.
• Allow it to steem for 2-3 minutes depending how your heat.
• Add salt, and a little water if it becomes very thick then allow it to cook again for 1 minute.
• Add the extra crayfish if you had any and stir then make sure to keep a close look at it if it's thick before adding your seasoning cubes.
• After adding seasonings, allow it to cook for a while before you add your dry of fresh hot leaf.
• Immediately after adding your hot leaf, stir it and turn off your Ogbono soup.
Your Ogbono soup is ready to be served, you can decide to eat it with garri, semovita, pounded yam or any swallow at all. But for me, I used fufu made from cassava starch to eat it.
If it reacts to your system, be sure to drink excess water, it can be reactive anyways but if you are used to it, you won't feel anything. This is just me enjoying my Ogbono soup with fufu, life is good if you could see it from this angle. Nothing is worth dying for, if you feel you are depressed maybe it's time to step up your food game and enjoy yourself, you can only live once guys.
Oh! If you are asking for the budget, depending on your location, you can use $50 to prepare this delicious meal, but if you are in Nigeria, these items are readily seen in shops so you can use about #5000 naira to prepare it, for my Israelis, you can use 30 Shekels to prepare it.
