Assalam O Alaikum to my all friends! Here is your own shahidalinaz. Today I am here with happy mood and lot of excitement to join this challenge. For this contest I made Basin Ki Barfi. This bring always smile on face. I will also share the steps how I made it. So stay close with me, don’t go anywhere, let’s learn and enjoy together!
◉1- Do you think desserts are important at special events?
Yes, I think desserts are always important at special events. Without sweet dish the table looks kind of incomplete. People wait for it in last and it brings smile specially to kids. In our culture also dessert is sign of happiness and sharing. Even a small piece of sweet makes memory of event more strong. For example at wedding or Eid, people feel excited when dessert come. It is not just about taste but also about love and bonding. Dessert makes people sit together and enjoy more. So in my opinion no event is complete without some kind of dessert on table.
◉2- Make one of the recipes that are shared in the course with a detailed step-by-step procedure along with images.
Here is procedure, how I made Basin ki Barfi.
👉 I took a small bowl of ghee, poured it into a pot, and placed it on the stove.
As the ghee started to heat up, I added a cupful of besan to it. Along with that, I added some flour to it. I mixed these three things well and let them cook.
👉 After cooking for two to three minutes, it turned into a somewhat liquid form. I cooked it for another two to three minutes and it started to have a nice creamy texture. I turn off to stove when I smell delicious aroma of roasted gram flour.
👉 Took a small bowl and I put 2 teaspoon of food color. I add little water to it and mixed it well. Then I started adding this food coloring to my besan mixture and added as much color as I wanted and mixed it well.
👉 After that, I took a small, beautiful pan, added a cup of sugar to it, added a little water, and put it on a low heat to cook it so that a thick syrup could be prepared. I cooked it on low heat for about five to ten minutes and its syrup was ready. Then I turned off the flame.
👉 We started adding this prepared dessert to the mixture I had made of besan and with the help of a spoon I mixed it well. I mixed it for about five minutes until it became a dough.
👉 Then I took it out into a plastic bowl. It was still a little warm. Then I gently pressed it down with a spoon so that its shape became exactly the same. And I then left it at room temperature for about six to seven hours.
👉 After six to seven hours, my magnificent basin barfi was completely ready.
After that, I cut it into pieces with the help of a knife and served it beautifully with chopped almonds.

Gram flour is good for health because it gives protein and also fiber which help digestion. Sugar give instant energy, though it should not be eaten too much. Ghee is traditional and gives strength, also good for bones if used in limit. Almonds also make memory sharp. It has very nice smell and it is also good for stomach and freshness of mouth. Almonds are full of vitamins, iron and healthy fats. So in total, Basan ki Barfi is not only sweet but also give some healthy benefits if eaten in right quantity.
