Contest alert- All in one contest W10: Food challenge and Writing expedition contest update
A friend of Naomi, who happens to be my roommate, just shared her experience.
To the rest of us in the room, we were busy paying keen attention to what she said the whole time. Actually, it was us technically eavesdropping.
Truth be told, I have never interacted with the girl before. It’s normal not to talk with some people; it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. A little justification there.
She was narrating what had happened in the bus while she was coming to school.
As the day would have it, she was surrounded by elderly women who were probably heading somewhere important.
Two women behind her murmured why she’d make such a long hair and still feel comfortable with it.
The other one who was just next to her complained of almost getting blinded by her hair.
Immediately, she held her hair with a hairband, yet it was still a problem as the wind kept bringing the braids to the woman who sat next to her.
After a couple of minutes, the women who sat next to her alighted the bus, and the rest continued with their journey.
A lady who sat just in front of me simply smiled at me and said lovingly, “next time, wrapping your hair firmly before holding it with a band could help.
You don’t want to be uncomfortable sitting next to someone, especially in a public transport system. By the way, you look beautiful.”
If you ask me, I’d say this happens almost every day with almost everything we do that seems strange or out of the normal for some people.
But the funny part is that it doesn’t just come from the elders anymore, even our young people do same, if not worse.
Whether young or old, it’s one thing to be concerned about something. It’s another thing to know the right approach to show your concern.
It’s as important as your message. In fact, how you say something might stick longer than what you say.
“I’ll be minding my business again. Afterall, I have an assignment to submit in two days,” I whispered to myself.
Would like to invite @josepha, @hudamalik20, and @saintkelvin17 to participate in this contest.
Thanks for reading through.
