The Beginning of Becoming a YouTuber

Among many strategies for becoming a successful YouTuber is learning from famous YouTubers in the same area of interest. This requires emulating those who have succeeded.

Competitor Content Research

My first sample is an electronic DIY YouTuber

GreatScott

https://www.youtube.com/c/greatscottlab

This channel provides excellent explanations with very clear instructions; the focus is on electronics and electronics-related DIY projects. I love the quality of both video and audio used in this channel and the way he engages with his audience.

He takes his time, speaking calmly and composed as if he made good use of a script. The titles are mostly short questions that spark curiosity, and the videos are all well edited with thumbnails that capture the key elements in the video.

From this established YouTuber, I would like to be as composed as he is when speaking. Due to a lack of script, I made more than 30 attempts to create my introductory video. I also like the environment around him.

My second sample was also a DIY channel

Handyman 101

1000102730.jpg
https://m.youtube.com/@Handyman101nv

146 videos with 21.5k subscribers in only 6 months, Handyman 101 is truly a place to go for DIY projects, life hacks, and handyman ideas.
He has videos for fixing, patching up, building, and upgrading that can be done for your home or your workspace. If you love fixing your stuff yourself, then this is for you as he provides step-by-step repairs.

One of the striking things about this channel unlike the first sample I studied, is the fact that he says nothing at all, only actions. Yet I followed him step by step. Starting from the titles he gave his videos, they are short and to the point.
Editing is great and precise with appropriate thumbnails that capture the essence of the videos.

Because I feel a little shy looking into the camera lens, I like his approach. Only his clean hands and tools are in the workspace.
I would like to do the narrating, a feature missing in Handyman 101.

Interest-arousing titles

Practising the art of crafting video titles that captivate my audience. Here I am presenting three sample titles and a short description to accompany them.

1000102754.jpg From Dusk Till Dawn: Expert Advice for Safe Night Driving

Introduction
Timing (0:00 - 0:30)
[The video start with a shot captured from inside a car driving at night]

Narrator: As the sun is saying goodbye, and the road is gradually getting darker. Most drivers retire, "I don't drive at night" they say. But if it happens and you mostly drive at night, it's essential to adjust your driving habits to stay safe.
Welcome to 'Expert Advice for Safe Night Driving.

This video provides "Expert Advice", tips and techniques to help you drive confidently and defensively at night, and how to make the most of your vehicle's features and the road ahead of you.

Tip 1: Adjust Your Headlights.
Timing: (0:30 - 1:00)
[Showing footage of a car's headlights]

Narrator: Tip number one: adjust the headlights of your car. Make sure they're properly aligned and clean to maximise visibility. Also, make sure you can adjust focus on the go

Tip 2: Reduce Speed
Timing (1:00 - 1:20)
[Switching footage to a car's speedometer slowing down with a dark road in the backdrop]

Narrator: Tip number two: reduce your speed. It is obvious we all can't see well at night and your vision will be interrupted by oncoming traffic. Drive slowly, remembering that you can't see well because it is dark, and it is worse if the road is not familiar. Just be prepared to stop or react to unexpected situations, crossing animals and potholes.

Tip 3: Stay Alert
Timing (1:20 - 1:40)
[Cut to footage of a driver struggling with sleep]

Narrator: Tip number three: stay alert. Don't engage in that night ride if you feel like sleeping. That fatigue and sleepy eyes are major contributors to road accidents at night. Keep an eye on people crossing in blind spots.

Tip 4: Use High Beams with consideration
Timing (1:40 - 2:00)
[Cut to the footage of a car's blinding high beams]

Narrator: Tip number four: use your high beam wisely. Using high beam can make you see better, but it can also blind other drivers and road users resulting in accidents. Dimming them when you see cars coming.

Conclusion
Timing (2:20 - 2:50)
[The closing shot is that of a car driving safely at night]

Narrator: By following these expart tips and advice, you will be well-equipped to handle most challenges that are associated with night driving. Remember to be alert to road condition. Avoid any conversation that may be distracting you. Don't use your phone. Make use of all vehicle's features wisely. Safe-night-driving is all about being prepared and aware. Thanks for watching

Adding a call-to-action or a reminder to subscribe in the closing shot.

Conclusion and Invitation

A good video has a blueprint in the form of a script that directs action and sequence. It is also good to learn from those who have succeeded in the area we are interested in, emulating their ability to craft compelling titles and narratives.

I am inviting @nspidos, @rubee2as1 @dequeen, @bossj23 and @josepha to participate in this contest.
