My name is Blessing Willie, @bee5 here on steemit, a singer and writer, I entered this competition with so much expectations and I must say, my expectations are being met, my journey on here has been amazing, now to the question asked, I survived the judges stage by grace and merit as the judges were wonderful, impartial and not biased, I took their advice and I hope to come out better.

The song I chose for this stage is 'stand up' by Cynthia Erivo, depicting the legacy of Harriet Tubman, a revolutionary abolitionist, this song is one of the most played in my playlist, why? Because it tells the story of freedom from slavery, the lines of the chorus entails hope and freedom it reads " 'I'm gonna stand up, take my people with me, together we are going to a brand new home, far across the river, can you hear freedom calling, calling me to answer, gonna keep on keeping on" , this song suits my voice because of the depth and passion the original singer used while singing, I believe I have such depth as well, and I hope you enjoy while listening.

Singing without accompaniment is actually nice, I get to hear every note properly, I also get to feel the song just as it is, raw and naked as an artist would say, singing with accompaniment is also nice, as you get to hear different tunes that accompany the song being sang, but I'd prefer singing with my voice.

During the recording of this song, if you pay attention to the little gestures I made while singing, I tried to depict the joy of freedom from slavery, the pain in the song and the hope it carries, I even went as far as going on conrows to show the vulnerability the slaves felt when they were under their masters, this was the part I enjoyed while singing. I hope and pray I make it to the next stage, and I hope everyone else does too, stay safe and keep fighting my fellow contestants. Good luck.
