Cryptid Hunter Curator Week 2 Report – August

in Steem POD Team3 days ago

1. KOL Activities and New User Growth

Recently, several KOLs have been actively engaging in Steemit, leading to a noticeable increase in new users for both Cryptid Hunter and the Steemit platform.

  • In the Korean community, more introduction posts from new users and communication with existing users have been observed.
  • Our team is currently preparing for the Cryptid TCG MVP release at the end of August and the official service launch in September, working closely with KOLs.
  • More KOLs are expected to join on Steemit in the near future.

2. Cryptid Hunter Update Status

  • No new features have been released yet, but both the Referral System and STEEM Withdrawal System are scheduled for release soon.
  • We are also developing card pack airdrop codes for events, which will enable new user campaigns and collaborations with KOLs.
  • For the DAO system planned in September, @erinleeishere and @happypary have joined the team, and discussions on new structures and directions are in progress.
  • A seasonal operation format is also under consideration, which could bring further changes in service management.

3. The Bounty Hunter Issue on Steemit

During our curator work and service operation, the bounty hunter issue within Steemit has become increasingly clear.

  • Some users focus on mining STEEM via the curator system rather than participating in services.
  • A notable example: one user repeatedly posts almost identical content every day, with the same typos left uncorrected for weeks, showing clear signs of copy-and-paste activity.
  • Their posts claim energy charges, but on-chain data shows no actual record of energy usage.
  • This user mines about 40–50 STEEM daily and over 1,500 STEEM monthly, while also engaging in other communities to gain additional rewards.

I have no intention of criticizing him. This is the blockchain ecosystem, where all activities are guaranteed with freedom and anonymity.
It is the Steemit and STEEM blockchain system that has allowed him to act in this way, and he is simply taking advantage of the system to the fullest. Rather than blaming his actions, what we are asking for is a change in the system and in users’ awareness.

If these bounty hunters were to use STEEM not merely for mining, but within STEEM blockchain dApps—where that STEEM could help projects grow and then return value to users—a virtuous cycle would emerge. Such a cycle would help dApp communities develop, attract more users, and provide the foundation for marketing activities and the creation of even more dApp services.

📌 Reference post

Currently, bounty hunters may think that using STEEM within dApps is unnecessary. But is that really the case?
One of the top Cryptid Hunter players has already received rewards beyond his initial investment and continues to enjoy the game. Furthermore, with upcoming updates that may provide STEEM reward systems, it is clear that legitimate participants are not at a disadvantage.

The reason this is possible is because dApps integrated with Steemit benefit from the author reward system, which creates additional activity-based rewards. This is something not possible on other blockchains—it is unique to Steemit.
Yet seeing Steemit fail to make proper use of this system is truly disappointing.

I will continue to raise awareness of this issue and sincerely hope to see meaningful changes in the future.

It's nice to see the growth and progress of the Cryptid-hunter game everyday.

It's strange how they think to fake it by not actually recharging the energy , goodness me, though they are earning well enough from the posts to afford it quite easily, but...

I congratulate @erinleeishere and @happypary on joining the team. I appreciate @erinleeishere especially for providing the necessary guidelines to the new users.

I look forward to seeing the new features as mentioned.

Thank you for your kind support!

@roadofrich

We are confused...

You have highlighted the 'bounty hunter' posting behavior of @mohammadfaisal - yet you appear to be voting for him everyday with booming02.

Isn't that just encouraging what you are against?

Remember also that you should be adding a comment to every post your upvote.

We do not want to repeat what often happened in the past on Steemit, where certain users were told “you are engaging in misconduct, therefore you must be rejected and leave.” In reality, Steemit has often been intolerant of even small mistakes made by users, and as a result, countless instances of “witch hunts” have occurred. Our own service was once labeled a “scam” simply because of a few bugs and the lack of a proper tutorial — essentially another witch hunt, lol.

What I want is not to stop at pointing out problems, but to find solutions and ways forward. It is true that many so-called “bounty hunters” exist on Steemit today. However, if we can provide them with proper guidelines and make systematic improvements, I believe the community can transform into something more positive.

To be honest, our team also has its limits. With service development and updates already filling up our workload, it is very difficult to handle community management and curation activities on top of that. That is why I believe this issue should not be treated as a burden for a single individual or team alone, but rather as a matter for the entire community to discuss and resolve together.

We understand your concern.
To clarify, the votes given are at the minimum percentage level compared to other users. In other words, while they are receiving votes, these are very limited and cannot be compared to the level of support other users get.

This is indeed a gray area. On one hand, their posting style resembles the so-called “bounty hunter” behavior. On the other hand, they are still making use of the service in a minimal way, and since the number of active users on Steemit is already low, we are not sure if it is right to completely reject them.

In fact, I have encouraged them several times to engage more meaningfully with the platform. Sometimes, through them, new users also discover and join the community. That is why it is difficult to label them as entirely negative. It is more of an ambiguous situation rather than black-and-white.

Greetings, friend @roadofrich

I share your concern about users who seek to take advantage of the Booming and Steemcurator support systems, especially in relation to games, by using repetitive posts where only images and a few words change.

I'm glad you're taking this into consideration and using the curator account wisely.

You have raised a very nice point. Repeating the same topic over and over again is absolutely not appropriate for our family. Since we are mining a token by playing this game and for that we need to recharge every day, if I do not recharge, is there any need to give me a screenshot of recharging?

Since we get some reward when we write about this game, we should not do the same thing over and over again.

I think that when I or another user does research or does something good, there should be no problem in writing about that topic.

Still, thank you, the team has noticed this, due to which those who are recharging in the original way, playing the game carefully and mining every day often fall behind.

Since the team has noticed this, it is a very good aspect and it is very important to take care of everything.

@mamun123456 I am amazed by your reply!

Why didi? Did I share something wrong?

@roadofrich
Yes I see more and more new users are comong into this game. They also post good guide for eveyone as they start from scratches.

I agree many postings are in Korean including mine, which make me think - I probably do English posting using teanslator to help international player.

🎉 Congratulations!
