This low-cost market was held to celebrate the month of Mawlid this year. It also aimed to control inflation and stabilize the prices of basic necessities. Those wishing to shop at the low-cost market were reminded to bring a photocopy of their family card.

In Samalanga Sub-District, the majority of women were seen enthusiastically lining up orderly to wait their turn, despite the hot weather. The items purchased varied, with items purchased simply based on needs and also in whole packages.

Four basic goods were sold: 5 kg of rice for Rp 52,000, 2 liters of cooking oil for Rp 32,000, 2 kg of granulated sugar for Rp 25,000, and a carton of chicken eggs for Rp 37,000, for a total price of Rp 146,000 per package.

Meanwhile, the low-cost market in Peulimbang District, Bireuen, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, was packed with hundreds of people, predominantly women. The low-cost market opened at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), and hundreds of women willingly queued despite the scorching sun. However, the majority of residents, mostly women, had been crowding the area since 9:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

Some women carried umbrellas, while others used photocopies of their family card (KK) to protect themselves from the heat. Mothers with children sought shade, while fathers also used photocopies of their ID cards to cover their heads due to the heat.

The courtyard of the sub-district office was not only crowded with residents but also with motorbikes belonging to residents. Several children were seen on the terrace of the sub-district office due to the heat.

They were buying basic necessities, and despite the heat, they still formed a long line, as did the men in the same line.

The officers, sweating profusely, worked hard to unload the goods and distribute them to the customers in line one by one. Furthermore, each resident had to bring a photocopy of their Family Card (KK) as a requirement to purchase subsidized staple foods.
