DON'T DEPRESS OTHER PEOPLE

Recently, bullying has not only occurred in the real world, but has also become widespread online, especially on social media. Yes, harsh and hurtful words aren't just spoken directly, but can also be used with fingers. Smartphones or other devices are used as platforms to bully others through writing. Whether directly in the real world or online, both are reprehensible acts. Furthermore, the negative effects of this bullying can be long-term and cause trauma.

Taunting, belittling, and bullying are not only based on differences in social status, but also extend to seniority, differences in job rank or age, differences in wealth, and even physical appearance, leading to racism.

According to Imam Ghazali in his book Ihya Ulumuddin, belittling others is not limited to discussing their shortcomings. However, laughing at others and smiling sarcastically at them also constitutes a form of belittling.

People who bully or belittle others usually consider themselves the best and most righteous. They commit these despicable acts solely for self-gratification. They don't hesitate to corner and undermine others just to elevate their own status through arrogance.

In fact, Islam does not teach its followers to be arrogant and boastful. Instead, Islam teaches us to be polite, humble, and caring individuals. In fact, Islam even teaches us to control our tongues and fingers when speaking.

 ||It's Possible That Those Who Are

Humbled Become More Noble||

In Surah Al-Hujurat, verse 11, Allah SWT commands us not to belittle others. Why? Because the person being belittled may be better and more noble in the eyes of Allah SWT. From this verse, we learn to reflect on ourselves and increase self-reflection. Here is the verse:

"O you who believe, let not a group of men belittle another group, perhaps those being ridiculed are better than them. And let not a group of women belittle another group, perhaps those being belittled are better."

Friends, therefore, let us not belittle others simply because of our differences. We should learn to be empathetic and tolerant towards others. As long as these differences do not conflict with the rules of Sharia, why should they be an issue? We should view others with respect and courtesy. Why? Because, in truth, Allah SWT does not judge people based on their appearance, physical appearance, or worldly possessions. Allah SWT only assesses the piety inherent in the soul and body of His servants.

“Indeed Allah
He doesn't look at your body and your possessions, but He looks at your heart and your deeds." (H.R.
Muslim).

Friends, demeaning other people is not a characteristic of Muslims
Good. The characteristic of a good Muslim is loving other Muslims. In the hadith
History of Imam Bukhari, Allah SWT. will love His servants who love
other Muslim brothers.
