Indonesian National Islamic University Bireuen Holds Fashion Show of Used Goods.
The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Indonesian National Islamic University (UNIKI) Bireuen, Monday (6/16/2025) held a fashion show attended by 10 female students from various study programs.
The participants' clothes made from used goods ranging from cardboard, newspaper, plastic bags and others were arranged in such a way as to become beautiful and attractive clothes.
The activity full of creativity, cultural values and also environmental concern was named the Trashion Show Ecopreneur Fest UNIKI 2025 with the theme Trash to Cash, from used goods to classy.
The participants came with clothes like a general fashion show, but the clothes they wore and their accessories were made from recycled materials. The materials included cardboard, used newspapers, plastic bags, cotton and rare flowers.
One by one they appeared to the front with their swaying steps, received a welcome from hundreds of students, they appeared confident and received an assessment from the jury.
A student named Aura Hirayuki, a law student at UNIKI, said that the series of clothes worn, in addition to the main material, also used chopped cardboard, used newspapers, tissues, cassettes and others.
"We made it ourselves with a group of 10 people," she said.
The group leader, Ismatul Rahmi, said that various used materials were knitted in such a way that they became attractive and displayed in a fashion show with other participants.
In the fashion show there were 10 participants, namely Nia Safira from the management study program, Salfitri (animal husbandry), Silvia Ufa (FKIP), Nazia Asyifa (faculty of engineering).
Next, Nazira Shafira (management), Siti Nabia (FAI), Linda Wati (management), Aura Hirayuki (law), Hayatul Ula (FKOM) and Faizzatun (accounting).
They appeared one by one on the front page of the campus in front of hundreds of participants and also the jury. After performing, the participants also answered questions from the jury about the clothes and the theme they were carrying.
UNIKI student president, Putri Zianby Cintami said, the extraordinary trashion show participants are a creative generation who have prepared their best works from used goods, and made them into something valuable and meaningful.
This trashion show is not just a fashion show, it is a movement. "A movement to make us all aware that concern for the environment can be realized through art, culture, and the creative economy. From used goods, we can produce something classy. From waste, we create masterpieces," she said.
The opening of the fashion show was carried out by the Chairperson of the National Foundation Hj Nuryani Rachman MM attended by the academic community and hundreds of other invitees.
